This really is a peaceful beautiful track to take through the natural bush. I would say quite an easy walk for most ages.

We came across this bush track when walking down from Flagstaff Hill. It is worth the detour. It is moderately steep in places but you get a fabulous view of Russell half way down. You do need to be moderately fit and the track is a mix of mud path and steps. We saw fantails and a weka on our walk. As it is in a kiwi area no dogs are allowed, even on leads.…

On the walk between Russell and Tapeka and off the road near Flagstaff Hill these bush track takes you down to a secluded bay - well worth the walk. Takes longer to walk back UP the track than the gradual slope down on the way to the beach! It gets your heart pumping so don't attempt if you are not moderately fit.…
