Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Beautiful beach with plenty of room for everyone. Paddle boarders, canoes and swimmers all able to enjoy this lovely piece of paradise. Accommodation and restaurants close by makes it a holiday wimmer.

The beach is lovely and worth a visit for a walk and to see the beautiful sunset silhouettes. The only annoying thing is how busy it was - on a Friday afternoon around tea time it was full of teens hanging out. Good for them but overcrowded for us in our 30s haha. Still lovely and worth a trip.

This beach is a really nice place to go with the family on a hot day. It can get a bit windy, but usually not enough to warrant going home. Once you’re done at the beach, you can go to the playground and watch your children play.

Beautiful beach, with plenty of space for all. Safe to swim, kids really enjoyed being in the water and playing on the sand. Very family friendly, and the nearby playgrounds were really good too. Loved getting some delicious Appleby Farms ice cream from the vendor on our walk home.

Apparently this beach is highly rated. Not by surfers, teenagers or anyone who can handle more than just a vague ripple of movement in the water. It is very sheltered. There are no waves. As a beach for swimming it is a complete and total disappointment. Even very old people feel unchallenged by going fir a paddle here. In short, forget about it. Tahuna has always and remains an apology for a beach. If you must come, come in the morning. By early afternoon there is a nasty westerly wiping along the beach putting sand in your hair and in your icecream.

Beautiful stretch of beach easily accessible from the main road. Kid friendly waters. There's a hive of activities happening such as kite surfing and paddle boarding. There's so much space that there could be hundreds of people yet you're not in each other's spaces.

Had a swim here on a hot day - always good. The water at that time was a bit shallow - but if you walked out a way it was deep enough. Because of the depth the water was unusually warm. The sand on the beach was perfect.

A lovely long sweeping golden beach. Unfortunately the day we were there it was windy so not pleasant to lie on the beach. This beach is quite tidal and I had to go out a reasonable way to get some depth. Afterwards, I was wanting a freshwater rinse but the toilet block closest to the entrance is just that- a toilet so had to drive further down checking toilet blocks until I found one. An outdoor freshwater shower would be very handy or at least signage to one.

Really nice beach and surrounding area. We stayed in a motel with a view over the sea, wonderful waking up to that everyday. Would definitely recommend this beach, it’s not crazy full and has a lot of amenities around it.

We were lucky enough to have spent a couple of weeks with a base at Tahunanui with the beach a 5 min walk away. The beach itself is a long white sand beach, which was great to walk, plenty of space and the water looked fairly shallow. As part of the beach local area, there is a large theme park (which closed when we were there, but contained a large pool/slide complex and mini golf) and a roller slate rink, beach volleyball nets (these were getting well used) and a fair bit of parking around. Lots of access point to the beach through various formed and 'unofficial' tracks through the low dune area.
