Spent many days at this beach over the years, as I visit Nelson to see my mother. This beach is well maintained, and clean. Stretches as far as the eye can see. Very tidal, which is good for paddling, or having a swim when the...More

This is a lovely spacious beach near the city centre of Nelson. About 5 km I guess. While I stayed in Nelson I ran to the beach just before sunset and every day the view took my breath away.

Tahunanui beach is always a favourite when I visit Nelson. Go for a walk and look out at the outstanding views across the water and towards Tasman. Just gorgeous. Make sure you go on a sunny day to really experience the beauty of it all.

Wide and sandy, with views over to Nelson. The colour of the water was glorious on the day we went, with a breeze blowing. Perfect for children, and good dunes for sunbathing.

Visited here at low tide late in the afternoon. Weather was perfect and my son had a fantastic time running around, chasing seagulls and collecting shells. Very safe and flat beach that is perfect for kids.

Hi , as its a predominately coastal country your trip will take you around some of the most amazing countryside but as much as it is beautiful, you might want to take a cardigan ... and a rain coat . Its winter after all !
