I am a novice paddle boarder and was gifted a SUP lesson with Moana Paddle . This was taken by Toby on a beautiful, sunny Nelson morning. We spent about 15 minutes on the beach, reviewing safety issues, the equipment (paddle, board, ankle strap & life jacket - all provided as part of the lesson) and local sea conditions. We then launched our boards and under the watchful tutelage of Toby, learned and put into practise all the basic SUP techniques. I had great fun and learned a number of stability pointers which I will put into practise on my own board. Toby was friendly, knowledgeable, patient, reassuring and I got great value from the lesson. The whole Moana Paddle team were good to deal with and I thoroughly recommend them and their services to all.

Toby & Nikola took us on an awesome kayak journey to the Nelson Boulder Bank Lighthouse. We got a great introduction on safety and how to use kayaks. As we toured they told great stuff about the area, history, and local wildlife. Even got treated to a cuppa and ginger biscuits at the Lighthouse. Our family had a blast and would definitely recommend.

Toby and his wife were so really helpful. They have an incredible amount of knowledge in anything to do with SUP, Water safety, gear.. I'd highly recommend talking to them when wanting to purchase a SUP as they would find the most suitable for you (which isn't exactly always the most expensive).

We rented a double kayak for a couple of hours and had a wonderful time exploring the bay and seeing Stingrays and enjoying the seabirds. The staff is helpful and friendly. We enjoyed our time so much, we scheduled a SUP lesson the next morning. Our instructor was patient, encouraging and very knowledgeable - made for an excellent first experience. We encountered unexpected morning winds and a bit of surf, but it made the lesson more challenging and fun. We really appreciate the instructors support and kindness. Great company.

We have been paddleboarding with Moana Paddle Nelson several times, and decided to have a family outing in the kayaks for 2 hours.The staff were great, we only had to take one kayak down the beach, the kids had tuition and we all had a wonderful time. The sea was a little choppy but the equipment is well maintained and we got to Haulashore island for our picnic. Thanks Moana Paddle, we will be back.

The approach the staff have with customers is exceptional. They place safety as a top priority and give sound advice on weather conditions and sea currents. Great service. What a way to spend a Sunday morning.

Friendly team ..no over the top rules so kept it fun and we had hints on how to use the current and wind !...could have checked with customers they used sun protection or supplied sunscreen as likely to burn on a hot day !! Wet bag supplied for phones and carkeys etc .. beautiful beach ..great there s a rock and a. Island to aim for ..thankyou !

What an amazing trip. Chris our guide for the kayaking was fantastic and had all the knowledge needed to make you feel comfortable in the kayak, whilst telling you about the wild life and history of the Able Tasman.
The scenery is absolutely fantastic and beaches are the best in South NZ.
Definitely recommend booking a trip with Wilson’s and when we come back, will look to book into one of their cabins for a stay.

Fantastic tuition for absolute beginners. Our first time paddle boarding at 58 and 60 and we managed to actually get the basics and stay on the boards, thanks to superb tuition. A great bay to learn in, nice and safe and calm. We had fun and felt confident doing some on our own after the tuition.

Held our 13th son’s birthday party with hiringThe Bug Tahuna paddle board. They had so much fun and would absolutely do this again w a group of people from all ages. Sam the Moana shop was aw some to deal with giving the kids great instruction which is not always easy with a group of boys! Thanks Moana
