Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

My husband and I have visited Hoglund Art Glass for the last three years when in the Nelson region on holiday. Each time we visit we make a purchase. The products are beautiful and are priced accordingly. Given some of the glass wear is priced into the thousands, I would expect the service to be more welcoming and the staff to offer some information on the products. The previous two years we were served by an older woman, this year a younger woman, both with no personality or flare. No hello, offer of assistance or conversation whilst in the showroom. My only interaction was when I asked to view something. On this last occasion I looked at number of earrings, again no feedback or encouragement from the staff member, no direction as to where a mirror was to view them, instead relying on my visit from the year before. I did get a friendly smile and thankyou after my purchase but that was the extent of the service.

We visited to search for a piece for our oceanfront home. We arrived 15 minutes prior to closing and the staff member began cutting the lights off in the showroom so we couldn't see all the product line. She completely ignored us and was abrupt in dealing with me as i made my selection. We were interested in the story behind the creation of the vases but she didn't speak to us. My friend asked to use the restroom and she was told it was already locked. While driving away i commented to my husband that I wished I could return the vase as i was going to remember how rudely we were treated every time I look at it. It's a shame as the products are beautiful but not special enough to justify the high prices and terrible service.

Our visit was extremely enjoyable and fascinating to see how these beautiful pieces of art are made. The two young men making the glass, their music in the background, and their non-verbal signals to each other as they made pieces together was almost like watching an art in itself

The glass blowing workshop was closed when we arrived, so this was just a 10 minute view of their glass artwork for us. The entire thing smelled a bit like a tourist trap. They mainly display a series of very expensive vases, but lighting and presentation is poor and dated. They don't seem to have an interest in staying state of the art. The showroom needs a repaint and the little flickering 1970s TV box urgently needs to be replaced. If it was 1990, I'd probably rated it with 5 stars.

We are a small family business of four artists. (mum, dad and two children) and we definitely don' feel that we are a tourist trap. Our glass pieces start selling at $39 and the TV showing our glassblowing video is from 2001 (not 1970)

Called in here this afternoon. It's a small gallery/shop. It has some fantastic designs, lots of unusual vases and glass ornaments. We arrived a bit late so the glass blowing had finished for the day, however there was a video playing and it looked amazing- would be good to see live. Carpark is small and there is no cafe but worth a visit if you have time.

We stopped on here and really enjoyed watching the glass blowing for about an hour. It's really amazing what they do and how they do it. Totally recommend a visit.

There are some beautiful pieces of glass on display, both the buy and as examples of the craft. There is also some interesting information about glass and the process of cooling the glass once it has been blown.

Due to the fact that all the glass is obviously breakable (and within reach) I wouldn't recommend this as suitable for young children.

When I went to the gallery about 10 years ago they offered glass bead making workshops which were lots of fun ... it would be awesome if they brought those back or even gave people the opportunity to make a paperweight or try glassblowing!

Even if you don't have the $$$ to buy a piece, it is still well worth stopping in to just gaze at these incredible works of art. Was in awe!

Beautiful glass blowing at very fair prices. Some serious skill and talent lives here, it’s worth the visit. It greatly exceeded our expectations and resulted in us buying 3 stunning pieces
