We enjoyed our visit to this gallery in the modern building filled with light and a popular cafe on the riverside. Great exhibits in both rooms and good explanations from greeter at the entrance. Free admission.

Very small gallery with 3-4 rooms with open exhibition. Shop has some lovely pieces. Menu of cafe wasn’t very interesting so ended up going elsewhere for lunch. Unless there is a special exhibition I probably wouldn’t recommend a visit.

We visited on an extremely wet day and the gallery offered a display of local artists work as part of a major exhibition and also some brilliant examples of key photographs taken over time on behalf of The National Geographic magazine. Although very different, the...More

Four of us visited the gallery. We approached the gallery through the botanic gardens. Everything is done beautifully and shows good taste and flair. It is all on such a small scale however. We actually were disappointed with the overall experience, and that is said...More

THis is, in my opinion, always worth a visit. The recent modernisation has created a lovely environment. My recent visit was especially enjoyable due to lThe Cornish Connection” which is very well done. There was an interesting display of ceramics and also a room devoted...More

This is a small gallery, 3-4 spaces, but it still packed a punch for me. The special exhibition was the local artist, Sally Burton, depicting the 'Wairau Affray'. Absolutely loved it, such clever use of materials with meticulous expressions. I also particularly enjoyed the ceramics...More

The display on the battle of the Wairau was fascinating! The imaginative figures and the written character studies provided a new perspective on the "Wairau Massacre"! The local arts on sale covered a wide range. We visited and bought at one of the potters later....More

Loved the variety of displays from the stick figure depiction of the massacre to the collection of stone ware, porcelain, pottery, oils, watercolours and metal art. Well set out with informative plaques for each exhibit. The coffee shop and amenities make for a total package.

Small gallery, but very nice and interesting exhibits and art work. It was free also to get in and well worth a visit.
