This is attractive to all sorts of people. It has buildings brought in from the local area and all placed in this area - houses, variety of shops, church, pub, railway station, windmill, newspaper/print shop etc. also has a freight plane. It is full of information for each building and is very interesting. We went back for a second visit.

There is an entrance fee but it is free to locals and those visiting the brewery cafe. The park has a village made from old buildings, even a main street and fire station. The grounds are lovely, well kept and used as a wedding venue. There is a small and interesting gift shop and the staff member we met was... More

My husband John and i have just returned from our holiday in Nelson . We used their bus service to get about . The bus stop is right outside Founders . It's easy to spot because if you look out through the bus window when travelling from Atawhai you can clearly see the windmill . We spent hours in there... More

Absolutely fascinating place to visit. Seeing items that were used for dentistry, opticians and doctors plus the general store is a must see. Very nice coffee served too.

Started at centre of NZ and walked to founders along stanley whitehead park. Founders park has a large numbers of well restored buildings from around Nelson some are active, some commercial. The cafe is good for coffee and lunch. Spent 2-3 hours walking around

I've been to many similar museums, but this one is a favourite. There's lots to see and do and a really good cafe/brewery.

Spent a few hours here wandering around the place .... some attractions were closed but there was still enough to gain an insight of early Nelson ... a not to be missed attraction. Most likely better viewed on a sunny day as all or most of the attractions require an outside walk

I would suggest this is much more relevant when one has children to show them how things were. Perhaps not so much for adults on their own. Still has a brewery and a bar serving craft beers, not entirely a lost morning

We stumbled across founders after a walk around the area and really enjoyed an hour here. Would highly recommend.
