    Great Day Out
What a surprise this place was. We thought a couple of hours would do it. We got there at 10am and were there all day. So much to see and do and there was even a band playing on the lawn at lunchtime. Great value for money, the cafe was very good too and there was a lot of information and exhibits showing the history of NZ. Very good.

    Charming historic buildings
This would be a great place to take kids. Full of historic buildings and streets to explore. And the little train is quirky as well. We arrived a little too late to really take advantage of everything so some things were already closed so while it was a sweet sort of place, it was rather a waste of money for us.

Enjoyable and fun, if looking a little dated.
To begin with, the kids seemed a bit skeptical, what with most of it being (shock) looking at things, but over time they enjoyed doing the puzzles and riding on the train (even if it would be good to have more information about the trains 'destination', as when it reversed down a different track the kids thought wed gone the wrong way). They even enjoyed going into all the different houses, but without a doubt the airplane was the highlight, and it is, its mad. Cafe on location was nice, some delay but it was a busy, sunny Sunday, so expected. Food was excellent. I'd say the main problem is that several parts of it, including the model railways and the science House, were a bit dated and worn. But otherwise both the kids and the adults enjoyed themselves. At about $30 for a family for half a day, definitely worth it.

    Wow - fantastic
A purely chance visit found this amazing park. We were stunned how beautiful it was couldn't believe how cheap it was to enter this park. Several buildings were open to view and we also ate at the café which was very pleasant. A highly recommended place to visit when you are in the Nelson area

I've been to hundreds of museums around the world, mostly in European capitals, particularly London. This is one of the best museums i've ever been to, if not the best

I guess now it’s the off peak period , so there was no one preparing anything or any activities for the kids . It was just bare and sad . There were no train rides and no one was at the exhibits at all. If I knew that that that would be the case during off peak season I would have given it a miss. I had to pay as well, and even though I was given a discount (it was kind of the man to do so but I realised quickly why thereafter )

What a great place. So many interesting buildings, artifacts and stories. Could have spent way longer here. Loved it.

Great to check out the museum, crafts, and displays in this historic village. There are often events on here during the summer so check out the calendar ... great beer venue with locally made beer, wine and nice food for lunch and dinner

Notable Tours left 40 folks to explore this heritage village by themselves for a couple of hours. Everybody had a great time, favourites were the Newmans' bus display (with iconic TV ad), the Bristol Freighter and the little apothecary. Great organisation and service from the cafe as well - highly recommend for a group of older folks as a lovely place to snoop around for an hour or so.
