About
The Nelson Market is famous for its longevity and high quality of its stalls. For almost 40 years, market owner Nita Knight has worked hard to create a showcase of the best that the Nelson region has to offer in arts, crafts and produce. The market is enhanced these days with a wide variety of food carts, making it a wonderful place to meet friends and share brunch or lunch while checking out the array of goods on offer at this truly iconic market.

Tripadvisorâs approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

With easy parking near the market, this was a good place to visit on a Saturday morning. Large market with lots of stalls, food, crafts and plenty of produce for really good prices.

Hubby and I love our markets, and Nelson's is hands down the best we have been to. The produce is amazing, the products are practical and useful, and the food is to die for. Couldn't recommend it more!

We like to visit markets when on vacation. The timing worked out where we would be in Nelson on Saturday morning so we made sure to come here. It was quite rainy on the day we came (unusual from what I hear), so the number of vendors was less than usual. Nonetheless, there were a wide variety of stalls, mostly on the high end. It is certainly not a flea market. On a sunny day, I can see this as being a great place to spend a Saturday morning.

I do quite like to wander a Saturday market when I get the chance and this was quite well laid out in a carpark in the centre of Nelson city. Some local crafters and clothing makers, jewellery, a guy on a piano, various food manufacturers (bread, black garlic, honey, sweets etc), a greengrocer or two and plenty of others!
Worth a look depending on what your tastes are and is apparently on rain or shine.

The most gorgeous Linen clothing. Whilst it was a quiet weekend there, still managed to find some lovely hand made pieces to take home.

Hi,
As we are visiting NZ and staying briefly in Nelson, how easy is it to park to visit the Saturday market and is it on all day or just the morning?
Thanks.
Jane :)

Hi Jane. It closes about lunch time because we got there about an hour before it closed. We managed to park easily enough because the market was starting to shut down. You might find this helpful:
You can google Nelson Saturday Market and find information. It's open from 8am until 1pm I think.
There's great food and excellent crafts. Well worth it.
Hope this helps. Travel safe. Blessings.

Kitty , I understand how you feel about cigarette smoke , it does smell and is nasty to look at however , the great billows you speak of could be from a VAPE machine which contains no smoke , just vapour and burns non toxic oils which can some times smell nicer than the attitude of some customers who go craft markets to complain.
I gather you haven't seen a vape machine , its to help people stop smoking so support her !
