Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The Unconventional and Unusual Textile Materials Workshop was incredibly inspiring. I loved having the space to play and explore new ways of creating. What a wonderful weekend with Maggy J! Her environmentally aware ethos sits so well with my owh.

I had the chance to discover about plant dyeing with Colleen. It was a great experience to discover the process and learn more about the types of plants and their printing power. Colleen is passionate. I am very happy to have discovered this process during my road trip in NZ. I would recommend it to anyone.

Great workshops for begginers or even advanced skills. Great to meet new people and gather new ideas on weaving, tapestry or other textile experiences. The tutors are lovely and full of knowledge, and friendly.

I had a great time at the two workshops I attended, I have learned the basic skills I wanted to start developing my textile journey in arts.

Thanks to both of my tutors.

I enjoyed a lot, learning how to do felting. Is incredible how easy and fun is to do it. My favorite piece was the rock which I covered with orange and red merino wool.
Simply great

I spent 2 awesome days with tutor Colleen Plank. On our second day we pre felted 5 pieces. In the afternoon these were cut and assembled and fully felted as a beautiful wall hanging which I am thrilled with. I learnt many new techniques which I am putting into new pieces. Thanks Colleen. Loved the workshop and highly recommend. Linda Carviile

I finished my basketweaving class with splendid results. I had had pretty low expectations of the class since I’ve never had ambitions to make baskets myself. There seems to be an abundance of baskets, and they have never drawn me in.  But I wanted a class in New Zealand and this one was available on the dates we were in NZ so I said, why not?
Why not, indeed!  First of all my “tutor” to use the British term for our “ instructor “ is not only an incredible basket maker, she is also an award-winning photographer, silk screen printer, mom of 5,costume-little people-maker and consummate host!  All this talent rolled up into a lovely gracious woman with whose photographer partner she owns a very old and wonderful home, garden , forest and gallery!  It was a wow moment from the very beginning.

And quite a beginning for me too.  My one classmate was a young American woman who weaves scarves from silk, wool  and linen. She knew what she wanted to learn...new techniques to add to her already considerable weaving repertoire.  Me?  I am just about learning processes that will help me execute my artistic vision..in whatever textile-ish media I happen on.

But Anita Peters was able to work with these very different starting points...and get us to each create 3different baskets . I am so glad I took the course, and love what I produced. Maybe I can go again next year...across the big Pacific!

If you have a chance to attent one of the NZ Textile Experiences, take it! I very much enjoyed a private felt workshop in the studio of Colleen herself. She is a wonderful teacher (and great artist); explaining the felt techniques clearly and always happy to share lots of thoughts and examples to get inspired yourself.

I attended 3 workshops organized by NZ Textile Experiences. I love the paper making from linen fibres with the lovely Judy Keylock. She had gone to an enormous effort to prepare for us and she covered a lot in the time. I came away with some great samples which I will definitely use.

I also attended a 1 day workshop with Adi Tait. She was very patient, but I must admit I found Photoshop difficult. Most definitely my limitation. However, I was a little frustrated, as I did not realise there would be no internet access and I had emailed some images to myself which I could not use. Adi tried her very best, but I did find it hard.

I also attended a screen printing workshop with Judith Ritchie. Again she was very well organised for our small group of 3. I have had years of experience with screen printing, but still learned something new.

All the workshops were very well administered by Colleen Plank and I can recommend NZ Textile Experiences most highly. Thank you to all concerned. Pauline
