Good for Plant Lovers

Great, well kept public garden. Healthy plants and the tropical house was very good. Well set out to follow the walking paths and a big variety of plants that worked well together. Great landscaping.

Extremely well looked after and a credit to the city

Lovely gardens - it was a hot day and there was plenty of shady areas to stop and relax. Even though we were approaching winter there was still plenty of colour and the statuary is quite exceptional. Loved the children in the Wonderland Garden and the Alice in Wonderland one during the early part of our walk. Little gems around every corner. Well worth a visit for the peace and quiet and to just relax. Highly recommend - and well done the gardeners for a great job of care.

Pleasant morning's walk
Mar 2021
Easily accessed, level paths, good variety of plants and some interesting little features - an aviary, statue of peter Pan and Wendy, and "Wonderland" statue with Alice and various characters. Well kept and well presented. Leaflet available at start of walk to guide you round. Chinese garden was also very nice.

Gorgeous layout and walks throughout. The Chinese garden is very good to walk around. Close to CBD and good parking outside main entrance.

What a glorious afternoon walk through the beautifully kept and well planned gardens.
It could take its place among many top city botanical gardens

Beautiful gardens

We happened upon these gardens and they were just beautiful. What a lovely haven. Lots of beautiful peonies of different colours. Pretty fountain and little bridges. Just loved these gardens. All the better because we didnt expect to see such beautiful gardens. Really worthwhile visiting.

Forget the penguins - visit the Park!
Oct 2020
Oamaru was a stopping off point for us midway through a longer journey and to be fair it was cold and overcast. However, we were camped by the Oamaru Public Gardens and I was amazed at how pretty it was. It fairs extremely well against the other parks I have visited in New Zealand. It is definitely worth stopping to stretch your legs. Not only does it have wonderful rhododendrons and azaleas but beautiful ponds and pathways.

Cold day

Called in here on the way home to give my dog a walk round. Lovely wee stop on a cold day. Some of the statues had icicles hanging from them.
