Oamaru picnic spot

Excellent park, playground and gardens. Perfect for a lunch stop with children. Does have an aviary, but this is unfortunately run down at moment.

This park is well maintained and a pleasant walk. It is separated into areas and there is a guide pamphlet to help you navigate around. It had a conservatory and also an aviary so there is something for all (most).

What a beautiful and well kept Public Gardens .We walked through when we stopped at Omaru Top 10 park .Lovely stroll through the gardens .It takes about 10 Mins to get down to town centre. There is a main duck pond , small band stand , Japanese gardens and children's play area.

Absolutely loved this garden, beautifully maintained and manicured to an impeccable level, not to be missed if you are interested in gardening.

Had a long walk round here whilst staying nearby but it is a place you must visit, its like a small Lost Gardens of Heligan! There is so must to see here and many differing types of gardens and huge trees. Some look regimented and planned others are a mini maze. If your in the area this is an absolute... More

There are a variety and paths to walk that get you away from the loud noise of traffic. There is a small aviary area, ponds and an Asian garden theme area. I didn't walk the whole garden but saw no place to purchase food. It would be a nice place to bring your own picnic or go for a run.... More

Having grown up in Oamaru it is great to return for holidays. The gardens are as beautiful now as I remember them from my childhood. Beautiful rose beds, native planting, this area, awesome children's playground and the magical Peter Pan statue

Having grown up in Oamaru and spending a lot of time in the Gardens, it is still maintained beautifully. Great memories and always enjoyable to walk through. Catching up with Jimmy is a favourite and passing him a stick, so he can take it and pass it back to you, is a delight. Or just having a chat with him!

Had to visit and see if Humpty Dumpty was still there - wasn't disappointed. Got the photo to prove it too. The gardens are gorgeous - lots of wee paths to follow and treats to find. Peter Pan. The mushroom tables. The arbour walkway. The red Chinese bridge. Lovely just meandering around. A great kids playground too...the old rocket ship... More
