This place is truly beautiful if you appreciate old buildings and history this is a must stop and see! I didn’t stop long as it was getting dark and I was headed back to Christchurch. My next trip I will be stopping here to check it out properly, old buildings are amazing

IT TAKES YOU BACK IN TIME.

Oamaru's Victorian Precinct is an impressive architecture building and it is worth just wandering around as it is full off shops, galleries, cafes, bars and restaurants.

Historic Oamaru
Nov 2020
Oamaru has some beautiful old buildings in its Victorian Precinct and it is worth spending time just having a wander and admiring the historic heritage on offer. The Precinct has many cafes and shops throughout - unfortunately we were there at a quiet time of year, and early in the week, and a number of them were not open. Hint: if travelling outside of peak season, visit Thursday to Sunday and you will experience all of what is on offer.

Well worth a visit
Dec 2020 • Couples
Well worth a visit with lots of interesting sites. Obviously the steam punk headquarters is the main attraction but in this precinct there are still lots of other art galleries and other interesting sites to see. It is worth stopping to have a look

Worth a visit for an hour or two.
Nov 2020
We visited the precinct for an hour or so were able to park in the middle of it guess that is not the norm, Few photo opportunities and some interesting shops brought some sweets from one, Was able to stop at a bar for a drink but unfortunately only limited outdoor seating so wasn't able to take in the ambiance of the area. Worth a visit for an hour or two.

What a find!!

Brilliant fun was to be had at the Victorian Precinct on our Sunday morning visit while staying in Oamaru!
From the excellent coffee and cheese rolls and seasonal vegetables and goods at the Farmers'Market to the wonderful local artisans in the Precinct shops! Silica Gallery a must visit!
The train was operating, people were happy wandering and buying and enjoying this one-of-a-kind Victorian Precinct!
Even had a penny-farthing to add to this fun and creative abs buzzing place!!
Shops and food - excellent!! Definitely want to come back to explore some more!

The Victorian Heritage Centre is an interesting small museum.
Oct 2020 • Couples
If you visit Oamaru’s Victorian Precinct, make sure you go inside the Victorian Heritage Centre. It was open on a Sunday when we visited. Entry is free but a small donation is expected. It’s a fascinating little museum and the day we visited there were several welcoming, knowledgeable volunteers, dressed in heritage costume. You can also have ride on the Unicycle Carousel!

Interesting precinct with the heritage architecture for the region, though not too many retailers were open at the time
