My husband is a bourbon and whisky lover so of course we had to stop here. I did not taste since I am not a fan but enjoyed watching him try all of them and enjoyed talking with the bartender (is this what you call them?). Staff very friendly. My husband really liked the Dunedin Doublewood so we took a bottle back to the states with us.

Visited here with two friends from Colorado (whisky drinkers). Very welcoming into rustic tasting room and bought a flight of four tastings. These came with notes, a whisky “map”, water, and a bowl of nuts. The staff member took us through the types of whisky from lighter High Wheels to more maltier and smoky whiskies. The 16 year Dunedin Doublewood has a distinct malt taste and was my favourite. An absolute find. We bought a gift box set for a 70th birthday present, but a visit here is a present itself. Wonderful setting in historic building in Oamaru.

My Husband and I arrived with high hopes being lovers of all things Whisky! The shop is set in a beautiful location, the old historic quarters near the towns harbour, the intoxicating fumes of the whisky made our heads spin... but we were instantly brought back down to earth upon entering! The woman working the shop was unwelcoming to say the least, she was very blunt with us both and the prices of the Whisky were absurdly high, such small bottles! No tours, no distillery, very limited offerings, save your time and your money and venture elsewhere. A disappointing stop in what was an otherwise perfect town!

Arrived at 11:30am and figured it was midday somewhere so stopped for a dram.
Samples of rare whisky were reasonably priced (top price of $25) and a lot of information on where NZ whisky was going was there to be had.
Of course we came away with a bottle of Oamaruvian. Such a good dram.

Whilst on holiday in NZ with my nephew who is a whisky fan we dropped in here for him to sample some of the whisky on offer. The guy in there had a good knowledge of whisky and was very informative and friendly highly recommended for all whisky fans.

First off, my wife and I stumbled across Oamaru during a day trip from Kakapotahi. This city is amazing, and when we found the New Zealand Whisky Company I knew I had to try it. The tasting and whisky were so amazing, I flew home two TSA approved bottles of this stuff :) I have a bottle of the High Wheeler and the Oamaruvian sitting in my bar at home awaiting a special day to relive our visit here.

The whisky tasting is not for everyone, my wife opted out and I partook....so lucky she's willing to be my DD. You are offered their Flagship series, which consists of the two above and two additional. What I love about the NZ Whisky Company is that anyone can be here, this isn't fancy or cowboy, it's NZ Whisky and it's meant for everyone to enjoy. I didn't catch the employees name, but she was helpful in describing the textures and asking what I looked for in a whisky. The ambiance is very relaxed whether you are participating in a taste or just wandering through.

In my opinion, the price for the tasting was a tad more than I expected ($20 USD) and the price per small bottle was on par for a premier whisky stateside. They have rare whisky's if you have a bottomless wallet, but for me these two will be perfect to share with company when the moment is right. Great experience and highly recommend to others.

I had planned trip down to Oamaru for months.

I had previously tried lot of there older bottlings

And had paid for a private 20 litre whisky cask.

Tasting room is very well appointed with some very reasonably priced whiskies to try.

Team at Nz Whisky is outstanding and are well trained to cater for a discerning client.

I would highly recommend visiting to try some of there drams.

You can also buy bottles on site.

We didn’t do any whisky tasting, but I did have a hot toddy- and it was the best I’ve ever had. The location is very quaint and the service good. I highly recommend!

During our recent visit to Oamaru, we visited the whiskey factory and tasted some very nice & smooth whiskey. Very nice experience. The prices were, of course, very high.

I actually have to admit I had never heard of New Zealand Whisky before which is embarrassing so when I saw the sign I decided to go in and have a look. It's a cosy little room and a small selection of whiskies (5 in total). Matt was really friendly and had a great knowledge of the whisky which was really interesting to hear about. I first did the tasting of 4 whiskies (South Island single malt, Doublewood, High Wheeler and the Oamaruvian) I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of these and was even shocked to enjoy the blended Doublewood, as I normally prefer single malt varieties. Before I left I also tried the Otago and so glad I did. Really smooth and nice flavoured whisky. Really good quality whiskies and glad to have tried them all! I highly recommend checking this place out!
