Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Dropped in for Lilly fix, great variety and great prices, friendly staff, only issue was exit as with Covid it’s a one way, had to wait to get back down ramp in my wheelchair, but it worked well

We used Rainbow Confectionery for fundraising for our local club. After we overestimated the amount of candy we needed, Rainbow Confectionery graciously allowed us to return our unused boxes at no charge. They have great customer service and I'd highly recommend using them (or just stopping in for some lollies on your way through Oamaru)!

Bargains abound in this sugar heaven. Bought party mix seconds - 1kg for $4.50 but there were plenty of other bags at good prices including black jelly beans and licorice all sorts. Most are gluten free.

All sorts of lollys (candy) to chose from in the shop. All seconds but taste is as good, if not, better than first grade

Always a great place to drop in. Wheelchair access. Good to fill the Lolly jar or for kids to spend pocket money as is affordable

I wouldn't say this is a must do in Oamaru, however it's great if you are wanting some super cheap candy in bulk!

We arrived right at closing time. The young lady working the counter was gracious enough to stay a bit late and let us browse around the amazing selection. We had looked forward to the "Reject Candy Shop" or "Shop of Misfit Candies" as we had been calling it before our trip. The shop is small but the selection is quite good. The walls are lined with bins filled with all kinds of 'seconds'. We grabbed far too much candy and then noticed the Mystery Box. We grabbed 2 of those too. Again, the young lady working there helped us out by weening our selection down so we didn't over indulge on things that were already in the mystery boxes.
The factory no longer does tours, but there is a video that plays in the shop that describes the manufacturing process.
Don't expect a whole lot of excitement here. It's really a factory outlet/seconds store. It's not huge and doesn't have flashing lights. But it does have a very good selection of candies and great prices. It's fun if you are a fan of candy or have kids. You can spend about 15-20 minutes here.
The candy was quite good. The young lady working here made the experience so much better. Her excitement with meeting us and talking to us along with her helpful attitude reflects wonderfully on this company. If you're in the area, make sure you stop in. Thanks, Tayla.

This is a factory shop, they sell a lot of bulk sweets, short dated and seconds products. As we were leaving Oamaru the next day and didn't want to take a massive bag of lollies with us we opted for a couple of chocolate fish.
If I lived there I'd definitely be buying their bulk bags of fruit puffs to make lolly cake.
Stay well clear if you're on a diet.
