We were rebooked from the boat to the plane because of the bad weather. But we could not fly either because the weather got worse. Staff was very friendly, patient and flexible, so we got booked the next day. It was worth waiting! The next day we had blue skies, after 10 minutes, we spotted 1 whale. We made several... More

We had excellent views of two sperm whales during our flight and were impressed by our pilot's (Jesse) knowledge of their habits and life histories

Set out on a warm, sunny day full of hope that this time will be the time I see a whale. Well, we saw 4, yes 4, with dolphins and seals thrown in for free. A wonderful day I shall never forget.

The choices were helicopter , boat and airplane . Having done some whale watching [ shore based ] at Hermanus , South Africa [ Right Whales , second largest ] , we were not interested in the boat ride as it gives a very limited and superficial view . As they say '' there is more to the whale than... More

We saw one teenaged male sperm whale. Both my husband and I had a window seat on the same side of the plane so we saw the same thing when our pilot circled around the whale for about 5 min till he dove down. The flight is only 30 min which is a little risky since whales can stay down... More

Spent a few more days in Kaikoura and decided we had to try another "Wings Over Whales" flight. Yay!!! Wasn't disappointed. Have travelled all over the Pacific as well as the Bay of Islands and never glimpsed anywhere near what we saw this time. A full half hour of a lone Sperm Whale then to top it off hundreds of... After reading such good reviews, but husband and i decided to invest a hefty amount just to see these magical creatures. Also, it was our 10th anniversary, so we thought it would be really nice. Unfortunately we did not see any whales, but we did see few pods of dolphins, but it was from so far up, that they looked... More
