Kaikoura Helicopters Extended Whale Watch flight

Depart from our beach front heli-pads and within minutes be in the spectacular environment that plays host to one of the worlds largest marine mammals, the magnificent Sperm Whale.
This flight allows you extra time in the whale area to view these majestic creatures of the deep. This also gives you the possibility of viewing dolphins for just a little extra

- A better option for when the whales are feeding further off shore or are holding their breath for longer than expected

- More chance to view any transient baleen whales - these whales typically spend short surface intervals (one to 4 breaths) followed by long periods under water (often 2-5 minutes), the longer flight time gives us longer wait for them.

- Depending on the location of the Sperm whales, gives us more time to search for dolphin and /or fly along the Kaikoura southern coastline on our way back to land.

What an amazing experience. The team were friendly and experienced and put my girls minds at ease. It is a lifelong memory for my girls made even better by seeing a blue whale! Would recommend to anyone and will use again in the future.

The flight was designed for our wishes to fly up the coast and inland to see the effects of the earthquake on the countryside. The pilot was very informative. The trip included spectacular scenery, and always felt safe and well organised. The highlight of our trip.

took a flight to view whales off the Kiakoura coast. After a safety briefing with our pilot Aaron we were off.Heading out Aaron gave us a run down on what to expect.Once we found the whales we circled above them turning in different directions so everyone on board got a good view.Amazing animals to watch .Spent about 20 mins out by whales before heading back in .spotted a huge pod of dolphins which Aaron followed for a short period of time .we then had the surprise experience of landing on top of Mt Fyffe, what a view!! Headed back to base. we were gone for close to an hour Instead of the 30 mins we expected.A trip we wont forget. Thanks to our pilot and Kiakuora Helicopters.
