The best place to see the glow worms free of charge. Go here during the dark and you'll get the best experience. A very short walk and torchlights aren't a must (unless it's very dark for you). Limit exposure to electronic devices as the white...More

We arrived in Hokitika the day the drought broke, so were met with flooding and serious rain. Our glow worm trip earlier that day in Charlestown had been cancelled due to the rising river, so this was our fall back. It was raining heavily so...More

So this basically does what it says in the proverbial tin. A very short walk - no you won't need a torch (perhaps unless it was a very dark night). Not a long stop, but worth hanging around long enough for your eyes to adjust...More

Just on the road side coming into Hokitika this is a free and great attraction. Need to go at night when dark so the glow worms are at. Take a torch so you can see where you are going. An easy walk just off the...More

We had the opportunity to see the Glow worms in New Zealand at 2 sites. The first was the Te Anau glow worm caves. They did have an excellent video which explained the glowworm life cycle. But the view of the glow worms themselves in...More

Just a quick walk across the state highway leads you to a short path then to the glow worm dell. Go after dark for a good view of glow worms.

Glow worms were a short walk/biking away from city center. I went soon after sunset and first I could see only a few but as the evening grew darker there were hundreds of them! Worth visiting, especially as it is free.
