Family of four did the tree top walk and found it to be amazing. You can virtually climb as high or as low as you want and feel safe in doing so. Fabulous views of tree tops, foliage and birds and make sure you grab some lunch on the way out

I don’t like heights but felt bold enough to do this walk. Glad I did. The walkway is 20m above ground - with ground visible through iron grid walkway. Beautiful forest, carefully built into landscape.

It was a wet rainy day, but we loved it, brief walk from Cafe to the Tree Top walk, 20+meters above the ground in the air and 11 viewing Platform's to see awesome views, I felt super safe, the whole experience awesome and the wee walk there and back was easy, they also have a golf cart if you are unable to walk that small distance, the cafe looked yummy, we did not stay due to the rain, we highly recommend this adventure

We reallly enjoyed it I am a little scared of heights but even then could appreciate what I was seeing, you really are in the treetops looking down into a valley way below. Would highly recommend a stop here if you are in the region, they also have a good cafe on site.

We had lunch in the cafe and then did the Treetop Walk. The cafe had a menu that suited us and we had a good lunch. It was a sunny day and a good day to do the Treetop Walk.
Worth doing and a good place for refreshments. We have been before and we would go again if we are in the area.

Stopped here for lunch on our Cycle Trail. The food and service were lovely.
The Walk was interesting enough I guess from a technical view. I wouldn't do it again though.

Looking forward to lunch at cafe after biking from Hokitika. Arrived just before 2pm(closes at 3pm) to find lovely looking food in cabinet and on counter only to be told the Chef had gone home for the day so they wouldn’t serve us food only coffee.
We didn’t need anything heated up so this was illogical. I would give them no stars but this was not an option.
Not the West Coast welcome we had received everywhere else. Luckily we had a big morning tea in Hokitika 🚴🏻♂️🚴🏻♂️🚴🏻♂️

I'm so sorry you arrived at a time when the Chef found out she had a family member that had tested positive for covid.
I was on days off and they were unsure what to do re the food that had been prepared by the Chef.
So as a safety measure they decided to close the cafe I'm really sorry for the inconvenience this cause for you.

We were on the cycle trail and this attraction is right on the route so a nice stop off. Plenty of parking for cars and bikes and a cafe and toilets also. Quite expensive at $28 each (cheapest if tickets bought at Hokitika I-Site office). Quite a steep 10 min walk to the start of the walk so unsure how elderly or families with young kids manage. No one at the start of the walk to check tickets which made me think we could just have done it without paying. Lovely views and nice to be amongst the bird life. We enjoyed and very similar to one we have done in Queensland, Australia. No good if you dislike heights as 20m off the ground.

Hi, Sorry been away for a bit. I think it was around $25 per person, but best to check their website to be sure. we also had a mini buffet made up for our group as well that day.

How much time should you allow for this excusion?

I would allow about an hour to walk the Treetops and probably another half hour for drink and cake..
If you buy a ticket via book me do you have to arrive at that time or is it valid all day?

We did this and it said on the bookme email that it didn't matter if you were a bit late.
is this open all year round, ie in the month of april. Is it suitable for young kids, (primary school), is it still $38? is that just an adult price? is it cheaper for kids who are under 10yrs or is there a family price to pay?

Yes all year round and suitable for under 10s. We only had adults in our party so did not notice if price reduced for children. When we were there there seemed to be debate among managers as to wether the price was too high so it may have been adjusted by now. All details should be on their website though.

I have not been on this treetop walk but have done so on a similar excellent walkway in Western Australia, and the price we paid didn't seem as great as those quoted here. Is there a discount for seniors? Some have said $28, others $38, certainly a hefty price.

The pricing would be in NZ$'s. So you'd need to do compare to Aus $'s to compare the two... Approx $7mil build cost for these attractions so owners need to ensure an ROI

From the number of negative comments re the overpricing of the walk, shouldn't this be reviewed and they'd get many more Kiwis visit.

What constitutes a good price (or not) is subjective. I thought it was great value, especially purchasing online first and getting a discount. Also I love nature and the patterns and textures, so I'd rather spend money on that than, for instance, a brewery tour. I'm from Christchurch where paying $30 for entry into events is not unusual... so it is also relative to what you are used to or expecting.
I guess I'd rather they charge the amount required to make sure it is well maintained than not. It was a long long way up - I wouldn't want there to be any maintenance issues!
