Stopped in here to look around and they had a lot of different items made with Possum fur. These possum are not like possum it he US as they have a different fur that is very soft and makes nice articles of clothing and blankets. The prices are very high for this type of item so we did not end up buying anything as I guess the productions costs must be high. They do have some gloves and other items that are a little less expensive but any of the larger items are costly. At a different store later on our trip we did buy one of the gag gifts made from possum fur as they have willie warmers, belly button warmers, etc. that are fun items.

In Australia, these little critters are a protected species. In New Zealand, they are a pest and can be legally culled. Hence a shop full of items made from possum fur. It was pretty cool to go in and have a look and feel the beautiful items made out of possums. The fur of a possum is amazingly soft and delicate. the lady who ran the store was great and had a chat to us. If in Hokitika, stop by and have a look. It is very good and little quirky.
