Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Urban pedals made the experience of renting a bike so easy. They were quick and friendly, provided water for our ride, and described the best route to explore Hokitika and the surrounding forest for a few hours. We decided to rent the e-bikes, which were in perfect condition and made the cycling much more pleasant, even though the routes aren’t particularly difficult. The west coast wilderness trail through the forest south of town is exquisite and not to be missed. Drop off at the end was super easy...they told us to just tuck the bikes behind their building when we were finished, so we didn’t have to worry about whether they were open or not when we returned.

Highly recommend. I was traveling solo and needed both a bike and shuttles to two sections of the Wilderness Trail. Donna made it possible. Their competition is crazy expensive for solo/small group cyclists. Glory Days is reasonably priced, flexible and all-around awesome!!! The trail bike was perfect and Donna gave me shuttle rides on three days. The best service!!!

Wow!! Donna & family were INCREDIBLE! They went above and beyond to help our group have the best time on the West Coast Wilderness Trail. They provided us with great bikes, shuttle service to different parts of the trail, extra van hire, bag transfer and flexible timing so we could relax and enjoy cruisy days on the trail. Highly recommend West Coast Cycle & Tours, the price was so reasonable for an absolutely amazing service. Thank you Scott, Donna, Kate & Alex!

Although our trip along West Coast Cycleway came off without a problem, our booking with West Coast Cycle Tours did not go well. I recognise now that the trip itinerary they initially offered was so different from what we were looking for that we should have just looked elsewhere. Their itinerary included shuttles to or from Hokitika every day of the tour, which, for us, tends to break up some of the magic of cycle touring. We are used to self-guided trips where we stay at each destination, get a feel for the place and maybe get a shuttle back to our car at the end. In the end, they booked 3 of the 5 nights of the tour with them, as well as a shuttle back to our car after the last night, all for $920. We booked the other two nights ourselves.
My principal complaint with WCCT was that they provided very little documentation for the trip, even after it was requested. I asked for an itinerary and got only a listing where we were staying. We had no idea what meals were included or what type of accommodation was provided (i.e., room or cabin). I also didn’t have anything to show the hotel what had actually been booked there, in case there was a mix-up. I finally got the requested receipt when we arrived in Hokitika, on the second day of the trip. It was a handwritten on A6 note paper, again without details of room or meals. I also got a requested confirmation for the final hotel at Kumara, but again without an indication of room type or meals provided.
We ended up needing to cancel the final shuttle back to our car because we found no one would be there in the morning to give us our keys, which we had left with the car. I arranged to pick up our car the afternoon before and called WCCT the morning before our arranged shuttle pickup time to cancel.
Upon requesting a refund for the $300 transfer fee, we got the terse reply, “If you could please read our terms and conditions on our website. regards refunds.” Of course, there are no terms and conditions on their website – who puts them there? Without a contract, they are meaningless anyway. We just expected that we would be treated fairly, as we usually are. It looks like a refund is not forthcoming.
Of course, they may not be able to pay us the refund. These past few years have been hard on tourism businesses. With this in mind, perhaps we should consider the lack of refund as simply a donation to their business. After all, it wouldn’t do NZ Inc. any good to have tour businesses going under and visitors being left out of pocket or unable to recover their deposits.

Donna. Scott and Alex are the most amazing, hospitable hosts you can have. Irene and I completed the wilderness tour and were due to travel to chch via rail. Unfortunately when checking in our bags we were advised that the train was not running and no option was offered. Along came Donna and the team from Glory Days. A pick up to Hokitika, a shower and venue to wait a drop off to the airport.
This team is truely tjeir 5 star rating. Always smiling and offering the best of the west coast. All of my return bookings to the coast will be through Glory Days, and have no fear I will be back. 🥳🙃

Donna and Scott set me up with a mountain bike and panniers for my west coast wilderness trail experience in early July. They actually drove all the way up from Hokitika to meet me at the Grey mouth train station and dropped me off at a dinky seaside motel on the trail itself.

Beautiful forest cycling into Kumara and when the rear wheel bearing collapsed under my enormous weight they drove back out to Kumera and up graded me to a very smart e bike with a borsch front mounted engine at no extra cost.

The e bike did about 50% of the work on the "Eco" setting and left me fresh for the final leg into Ross which had a unique tree top walk on the way.

Donna was so accomodating for our family and nothing was a hassle. Her daughter greeted us the following day and went through everything we needed to know and her customer service was very impressive. We had a great ride on e-bikes to the Tree Tops. Our 15 yr old boys had a blast through the forest track. Easy ride.

Donna and Scott helped us organise our West Coast Wilderness trail. They were really friendly, helpful and did everything to make our cycle the best it could be. All our belongings were transfered and ready and waiting when we arrived at our accommodation. Our car was transfered from Greymouth to Hokitika and then we were collected from Ross at the end of our cycle and taken back to our car (despite Donna being incapacitated due to a bike accident the day before!) Would highly recommend this company as they know everything about the Wilderness Trail and are dedicated to making sure you have the best possible experience. Thanks so much!

We have been all over the world and have to say the service and commitment to customer satisfaction that Donna and Scott provide is as good as we have encountered anywhere. Nothing seems to be too much trouble for these two. There is plenty of competition in this market but if you are looking to hire bikes and or baggage transfer and shuttles, then don't go past West Coast Cycle & Tours, they will beat the pants off bigger companies. They also offer accommodation of the highest quality in Hokitika.
