Fabulous!

I began at the northern Rapahoe end, walking to the Lookout and return... according to the notice board, 3.4km one way. I only passed one other walker... a lovely man from Auckland and we stopped and had a chat. I made a video of an unidentified medium sized bird which decided to become a third party in our conversation... delightful! An easy walk and well worth the journey... the Lookout affords fantastic views up and down the coastline.

Great for a Sunday stroll
Sep 2020
I didnt walk the whole way but did the 3.2km (one way) to the Lookout from the Rapahoe end - 90 mins return.

Whilst there had been a huge amount of rain overnight, the track drained well with only a few muddy patches and, despite it being lunchtime on a Sunday, I never saw another soul on the track and had the lookout to myself!

Well formed, easy track amongst lush bush with incredible views up the Coast when you finally emerge to the coastline. The booming of the surf at it hits the shoreline is incredible to hear.

A great 7 km r/t walk!

Point Elizabeth is a headland jutting out to Tasman Sea. Travelling south from Punakaki, look for yellow sign pointing to the sea that says Point Elizabeth. You only need good walking shoes, path well maintained. Walk through a rainforest of ferns, palms, manuka, rimu, and broadleaf succulents ( some look like yuccas or century plants) until you come to a clearing and viewing area, you will see a beautiful expanse of Tasman Sea! Enough parking for 12 cars. Enjoy some solitude with this walk!

Lovely Walk
Sep 2019 • Friends
We were especially fortunate to do the trip with 2 vehicles. Half the party walked north while the other half walked south and we had a snack and swopped keys at the viewpoint in the middle. Interesting walk with some lovely views.

Suitable as round trip or walk through to other end.

This is a pleasant walk for small groups or individuals to enjoy native bush, views out to sea and down the coast. Can incorporate a beautiful beach walk, with a hotel at one end of the track to reward yourself with a coffee (Rapahoe). Easy gradient, so only moderate fitness required. Not wheelchair accessible.

Worth the walk

This is a very enjoyable walk, one and a half hours return. The bush and coastal views are awe inspiring. Keep an eye out for seals, whales and bird life. Loved it! The up hill part is very good for your health!

Great views of basking seals at the end

It's an easy walk but there are some steep parts. Sign boards along the way tell you all about the flora. There's a great view of basking seals at the end.

A small trek with good views

Nice easy walk towards the beach . A good place to watch the sunset. Looks are stunning and walk itself is so scenic. A must recommended one if you have around 4-5 hours and are with full energy

Coastal Views
Jan 2019 • Couples
This is a short drive from Greymouth and is well worth doing. Starting at the southern (Greymouth) end it is a gradual climb on an easy track for about an hour to the lookout. This is a great spot for lunch and there is a seat in a sheltered area. Watch out for seals and a range of birdlife. We turned around and headed back to the car park, but you can continue to the other end. A great way to see views of the coast and to wander through regenerating coastal bush. There were a number of families with young children walking it as well so it is fairly easy. Take snacks and water.
