Steep hike up but well worth it!! The drive along Whangarei Heads Rd is also lovely. Perfect hike to do before continuing on to Ocean Beach!

The walk to the top is not for couch potatos but there is a great viewing point at about 3/4 up if you want to avoid the worst bit of the climb. Fantastic views, beautiful Northland native forest and good exercise.

You need a degree of fitness to tackle this mountain, but once you conquer it you'll feel on top of the world with views to match.

The walk can be a little challenging but worth every huff and puff! Magical up there. Look for the little side tracks too

The walk is challenging as it involves thousands of steps, but a few stops on the way up to observe the spectacular view will make it easier. When you reach the summit the views down the coast are incredible and you will enjoy the easy...More

Lots of stairs, worth it though, doesn't take too long - 2 hours return. There's a couple of little tracks opened up at the top since I last went the Mt Manaia so you can capture the view from different locations. Interesting history there on...More

1088 steps up but it is sooooo worth the effort. The nearly 360 views from the top are amazing. The steps are well formed and uniform, the forest is beautiful and the bird life is great. I totally recommend this walk.

Well done, AND with four children! It would have been a great reward to get to the top :) See you again no doubt.

A lovely walk, well maintained track, but not an easy walk if you are as unfit as I am. It is very steep with 'a lot' of steep stairs, but well worth the effort. Beautiful native bush and birds all the way up and fantastic...More

You climb straight up and it is quite a haul but only for a short time and then the amazing view of the harbour. Worth it!

Unfortunately public transport only goes as far as the airport at Onerahi. One of the private shuttle services might be able to help but that will most probably only be cost effective if there's a group of you. Try searching... More
