Nice souvenir shops, restaurants and a picturesque quayside along the river. The food is good and the beer is cold. Parking close by, and yes, it's just a nice place to chill-out. Oh yes, Don't forget to try a locally made ice cream, Mmm.

Didn't find much to shout about here. Maybe once upon a time this was a place to go when in the area. Guess there's been too little tourist activity and so the place has deteriorated.

Right in the centre of town and close to the airport; very attractive display of sails and yachts. While I was there Laura Dekker arrived at the end of her around-the-world solo sail.

Each I visit Whangarei, I visit the town basin. First as a child to watch the fishing boats unload their catches on the wharf, and now to drink cappuccino and enjoy the views. On a sunny warm day, this is one of the best spots...More

I was first here in 2002 and the place was teaming with people. Now, it is more somber and there seems to be a lot of businesses that have moved. Was disappointed
