Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We discovered the Whangarei Rolling Ball Clock beside Claphams Clock Museum! This biggest and zaniest clock in New Zealand is a must-see attraction right in the heart of Whangarei Town Basin in Northland. A free family activity for both clock enthusiasts and curious visitors alike.

This is a busy area with a large marina together with several other attractions, including a clock museum and the fascinating Hundertwasser Arts Centre. There are also quite a good choice of places to eat. Altogether a pleasant place to spend an hour or so,

Please do not go on Christmas Day! All the museums and cafes are close. But the place is such an artist's haven. Wherever you look is a piece of art. Would come back, definitely!

It’s a pleasant place to walk, stroll, enjoy the environment. There are a good variety of cafes for lunch or coffee. Some really good art works and jewellery shops. Somewhat pricey although you can find less high priced pieces too. Quality pieces. Parking is a payment in nearest car park or you can park on the street for 2 hours.

What a great little place.

Only stopped for a coffee but ended up exploring.

Bright sunshine as I wandered. The marina, the Clock Museum and everywhere else. I did note so many places needed staff which as I had spent weeks exploring both the South and North islands it was a recurring problem everywhere.

A great little town,

It's a nice area (didn't get the full impression due to the, at times, torrential rain). Plenty of eating places, the Clock Museum, marina, just wandering around - all good and worth a visit

The whole setting is awesome. A bit of construction going on so a few restaurants are not open yet but I will definitely take the family there in future

Totally agree that the basin has some of the best places I found in town to eat. Nice to walk along and look at all the boats. Good little kids playground a few shops and also where the Clock Museum is located.

So much to see and do here. The shops are lovely to browse through and there are some great cafes. The Council have done a superb job of re creating this area.
