Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We walked from our hotel and found such a fun and funky place just brimming with creativity. We met several of the resident artists and even got a little tour of the wood burning kilns from Kathryn. Quite a history associated with the place started by Yvonne Rust in 1981. Worth a visit!

We didn't really get this place. We walked around but got the feeling we were intruding, so didn't stay long

Wear good walking shoes as there's some interesting tracks to walk. Easy to get around, can take a push chair to most sites. Has a cafe with good food and coffee.

The quarry is an awesome attraction that can host events, including weddings with the beautiful waterfall as a stunning backdrop, and sculpture filled gardens. The Yvonne Rust Gallery is a great place to exhibit your art works or view a diverse range of exhibitions throughout the year with wheelchair access and cafe opposite. It is the ideal location to have a studio - peaceful with a great vibe. They have many awesome art courses available. Great bush walk behind the Quarry with caravan sites also available. It is a great place to find yourself in this wonderfully creative, nurturing & serene environment. You can enjoy the gardens and gallery for free, and courses and events are charged for.

This is a unique place to visit. It is managed by the Northland Craft Trust which is a charitable trust. The Quarry Arts Centre has much to offer to locals and visitors alike. There is a Craft Co-op shop which stock a lot of high quality handcrafted products such as woodwork, jewellery, felt and pottery. This is a place to shop if you would like to buy something special and handmade instead of the mass produced souvenirs that you see in lots of places.
There is a woodturning workshop you can visit and see how wood is turned. The Print workshop is also an interesting place to visit and on the day we were there they were running a printing workshop for kids. It all looked like great fun and the kids were just enjoying themselves.
At the Quarry office you can buy art supplies and have a look at the current art exhibition. We called in at the pottery and had a chat with the artist at work. There is also a textile artist working with recycled materials as well as a painter just to mention a few activities to admire.
Yvonne Rust initiated the vision of an arts centre where artists from Northland could explore and develop their creative practice in an inspirational environment. Indeed it is full of inspiration and no matter where you look in the Quarry you will spot some sort of creation made by the artists. It is a magic place with old buildings and gardens intertwining.

What a great setting for an artists commune - nestled below the bush-covered walls of an old quarry. The place is very laid back and though not all the places will necessarily be open when you visit, you are sure to find things of interest and someone friendly to chat with.

We wandered around but a lot of the places were closed and some of the outside exhibits were looking tired and overgrown. The shop was lovely and had good variety, and the staff helpful but not over engaging. Clean toilets. Peaceful. Nice waterfall at the far end of property, and beyond that are the quarry walls. Exhibit area near the entranceway opposite a basic cafe area.

The gallery shop has great local art for fair prices. The kids and I enjoyed making art at the Sea life exhibit which was added to a fishing net to contribute to the exhibit, and the staff said we could even collect the art next week. Unique place, family friendly and open.

Hi, last year you had a sculpture thing, just wondering if there's another one coming up this year?
Thanks
