Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Claire at Bream Head Coast Walks provided our group (of 12) with a magnificent experience, not only because of the lovely accomodation...or the fantastic food she fed us....or the prompt and efficient drop-offs and collection service she provided for each walk....but her attention to detail for all aspects of making our 3 walking days a fanastice experience was superb.
Claire was professional in all her dealings with us, and as a result we felt very very well looked after!
Thanks again!

We had a wonderful few days as a group of 10 mum, escaping from our families.
The house was spotless and very well appointed. We were all very comfortable - one tip: make sure you keep the mosquito nets over the doors and windows, or spray your room before sleeping, preferably both.
The food was fabulous. Claire is a lovely host and a great cook. We were very well fed with a lovely variety of healthy, delicious meals. Those with differing food needs were kindly catered to with alternatives.
The walks were a good mixture of beach, farm and bush. There was enough challenge to keep the fitter ladies happy, but those of us who weren't as fit were still able to do everything. The views were nothing short of spectacular. And we had a couple of wonderful beach swims.
I would highly recommend this to any group wanting to unplug from everyday life for a few days, enjoy each other's company and get to know a beautiful part of NZ a little better.
Thanks Claire.

A super walking weekend at the Bream Head Coast Walks with 5 lovely ladies. Fully catered with stunning food, breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks. Amazing facilities, great company and more than a few sore muscles. Day one starting from Ocean Beach Road, uphill and down, 1000 steps down from Mt Lion to Smugglers Bay and onto Urquhart Bay - 10k and 5 hours later. We certainly enjoyed our meal along with a wine or two.
Day two started from our accommodation, over farmland and down to the ocean beach, just a stunning stretch of coastline. On what was meant to be a wet and wild weekend turned into high temperatures, lots of sunshine and the rain starting at the END of our adventures. Big thanks to Claire of Bream Head Coast Walks for an amazing weekend. Recommend you give this weekend a go 👍👍

Claire has a really great setup and takes excellent care of her guests (very accommodating with allergies too). Lovely food and great advice on the walks. Even saw a pod of dolphins to end a perfect first day.

Wonderful lodge with excellent accommodation, delicious evening meals and plenty of goodies for breakfast and lunch. A selection of walks available; the big ridge walk on Day 2 is a challenge (more so coming down!) but worth it, even for average fitness. Highly recommend a swim at the end of each day to ease those hard working legs!!! Claire and the Bream Head Coast Walks experience made our trip a real pleasure! Thank you! A fantastic lodge located by the beautiful Bream Head coast, surrounded by native bush. Claire was an amazing host, ensuring all members of our group had activities planned to meet their different requirements, and dropping everyone off at the beginning of the walk, and picking us up again at the end. The accommodation was spacious for a group if twelve, with relaxed living areas indoors and outdoors. Claire provided beautiful meals which catered to everyone’s needs, and were thoroughly enjoyed by all.
I would definitely recommend Bream Head Coast walks.

Wow wow just wow! The scenery on this walk is nothing short of spectacular. The 5km loop was a relatively easy walk with lots of photographic opportunities. Smuggles Cove is a great spot for a swim.

The perfect place to get together with friends or family and enjoy the beautiful
bush, beach and walks. Claire was amazing nothing was a problem, the food was delicious and always far more than we could eat. Knowing she would come and pick you up if your knees were too sore to continue was a great relief to those not as fit
as the others !!! The lodge was clean and the beds comfortable and everyone loved
the outdoor bathtub, some even heard the Kiwis. An wonderful place to stay.
Thanks Claire.

What an amazing trip! The walks are stunning with lots of options depending on ability, glad we did the more challenging Te Whara track on day 2 and walking poles were very helpful here.

Claire was the ultimate host and her friendly informative manner was superb. Her knowledge of the walks, weather and local area was so valuable and made this trip interesting and hassle free. Transport was super helpful. The food was an absolute highlight, super yummy and abundant and we enjoyed not having to cook for 3 days. The accommodation was extremely comfortable and would recommend going with the linen option.

From the descriptions I expected more rustic accommodations. The lodge was built for guests and extremely comfortable and well appointed. Claire, our host, was attentive and thoughtful. In early February, we shared the four bedroom with only one other couple. But there was plenty of space for more. Claire arranged and delivered gorgeous meals, with minimal prep required at the end. In late summer, she took advantage of all the fresh ingredients, corn, tomatoes, avocados, berries and more. Everything was homemade and delicious. The farm eggs, wow. She would come at the appointed morning time to take us to this hike or that. Her directions, perfect. She would pick us up after, with refreshing watermelon or a popsicle- so perfect on a hot day or after a hard hike. A wonderful location, great place and wonderful hosts. Great for couples. Wonderful option for families or large groups.
