Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Te Kākano is a stand alone sculptural and architectural piece, the forerunner of a larger project, and has just been opened. Every Hundertwasser project has a stage I component such as this so that the tradespeople who will be involved in the construction of the main project are able to learn (in fact unlearn) necessary skills for construction, tiling and decoration. Hundertwasser loved lines that were not straight, broken tiles, uneven surfaces and inclusion of roof gardens and trees, all part of his vision of practical and sustainable living and this shows what the full project will be like. It is already a stand-alone architectural and sculptural piece, an attraction of itself giving a taste of what is to come and already attracting the attention of locals and tourists alike.

As complete Hundertwasser nutters, we have been following the progress of this project with intense interest. Having been to many of this architects buildings overseas, we know that any addition of this style will bring HUGE international interest to any place where a construction like this is placed. As the proposed Hundertwasser and Maori Art Gallery will be the absolutely LAST genuine building of this sort...any where on the planet, the Whangarei population should feel extremely privileged to being hosts to this marvelous and unique attraction. What a stunning place to wonder at and absorb the local and national Maori Art exhibits.

A wonderful start of more Hundertwasser buildings to come. Even though it's totally different to the surrounding buildings it still fits the area. There's a lot to discover around the structure. Trees sticking out, stones in all shapes and angles.

The newest Hundertwasser styled structure in the world situated in the Town Basin of Whangarei and part of the Loop Walk which in itself is delightful. Walk over the new iconic bridges, through the Art & Heritage Trail and alongside the river and boat harbour. The structure is colourful, quirky and charming and a taste of things to come.
Well worth a stop at the Town Basin. Lovely little shops and cafes nearby and the clock museum.

This had only recently been revealed when we visited the town Basin on our return trip to Whangarei. A very unique development.

The promise of things to come when the Hundertwasser Wairau Maori Art Centre will be built. A quirky and inspiring piece of interactive art.
