Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What a fantastic area the Bason botanical gardens is. Serene, amazing and just wonderful. So much to see and be thankful for ancestors for what they planted, if only we could say thank you!

I usually go there with my friends for walk. It is such a beautiful natural place. The paths are made in such a way that you might feel like you are in some sort of forest. Very quiet and calming place. Must visit in Wanganui especially in the morning or in the evening.

Beautiful and expansive, we didn't even see it all. Lovely conservatories and the gardens were well maintained as were the grounds. Really loved going here. Probably go back again to see what we didn't today.

The Bason Botanic Gardens are a real treat and well worth visiting. The gardens are well set out and have a variety of different planted areas. The home garden is superb and a tribute to the original owner. A great way to spend a few hours with many highlights. Plenty of space for the kids to run around. Highly recommended.

My friend and I went there for a walk on the weekend. It is such a beautiful and calm place. You can listen to the sounds of birds chirping and the flowing water. It felt like i was lost somewhere in the heaven away from the stresses of my life. A must visit if you want to have a nice quiet “ME” time.

The borders are lovely. Amazingly big succulents. Italianate hill walk. Fantastic barbecues. Glass houses. A lake and lawns. What wonderful botanic gardens. Why did I not discover them before?

This is one of the best botanical gardens I have been to. It is huge, and well-served by roads within. It is a great place for a picnic and well-laid out. Whanganui is so lucky to have it.

Set off in sunshine arrived in rain, even that couldn't spoiled our visit. We ambled around the tracks tree and plant spotting and shelter in the conservatories. Sure came out and we were off again! Love ht settlers home and garden, beautiful.

Great little gas BBQ's around the place could well imagine coming back on a better day. If I lived locally this would be a regular visit.

Beautifully cared for and if you cant walk far you can drive around the entire gardens and get out for a stroll hen you feel like it. A fabulous garden for everyone.

Maybe it was not the good time to go there as many flowers were not open. Must be nicer in late spring time or summer time
