We cycled Thames - Waihi - Te Aroha, then got a transfer back to Miranda to cycle Miranda to Thames on the newest part of the rail trail. Really lovely trail through farmland, very flat with a slight gradient on the Paeroa to Waihi stretch....More

Brilliant. Safe. Lengthy. Well maintained. Much more relaxing than taking your life in your hands on the roads! Ideal for a gentle relaxing cycle of 2 miles or 12 miles. I really enjoyed my cycling on the rail trail

We parked near the River Lodge and rode with our young girls 4 and 5 through the 1km long tunnel in the gorge. They loved it. The tunnel is now lit which makes it easier.

Easy cycling on old gravel rail track. We hired bike from Jolly's on the Main Street in Thames. Bikes were suspension mountain bikes though such a spec was a luxury. Several stops for food and drink along the way so no need to carry too...More

Great trip! Would recommend Sherpa shuttles plus Miranda hot springs holiday park. 11 people completed this from age 6years to 40 something. Everyone managed. Stopped for cheese platter and Devonshire teas. Kids were amazing and we had no problems. Would recommend to other families!

One of the NZ great rides--primarily along an old rail bed so easy technically. Rode Paeroa to Wahi and back. Scenic and leisurely or you can put the pedal to the metal for a workout. The old rail tunnel at 1.1 km was fun as...More

Stayed at Thames overnight after this ride. 35 kms of easy track. Got Tui Blue shuttle back. Trevor was our driver. Very friendly and professional. Great night out in Thames at the Thai on Pollen street. Stayed at imperial hotel. All good. Thoroughly recommend.

Hi, sorry for the late reply. I hope I am not too late. No it isn't hard to find, it starts at the Train Station in Waihi. We got directions from a bike shop who were very helpful. As previous comment, it is well sign posted... More
