Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I was the one who booked the trip and was also the one most hesitant to participate because of my complete fear of heights. Our guide Anna was such an enthusiastic and patient teacher that she helped quell my anxiety and our family TOTALLY enjoyed every second. Anna is such a professional and so cheerful. The company is well-run, the trip was perfectly guided, the day was one our family will always remember with joy. Thanks, Anna!

You are welcome! We are so happy to hear your family adventure day was a success! Try something new, right? Great catch phrase! We think Anna is as excited to go canyoning as all our clients every day and she sure loves a chit chat so it sounds like a perfect fit for you. Thanks so much for taking time to write a review. Safe travels. Have a glad day. The Canyonz Team

Wayne and Anna were outstanding guides on an epic day of canyoning. We had a mixed group- some with experience of abseiling and some with none. Our guides were so professional that there was not a second you didn’t think they were in control and reliable. The gear they provided was first class and kept us safe and warm (even in winter) throughout the day. They took hundreds of photos of my family in action so there was no need to worry about doing it. Food was awesome, the banter was great, but the best part was the adventure, the adrenaline rushes, the surprises, the challenges and most especially- the feeling you get afterwards of achieving something quite spectacular!

My buddy and I did the full day Sleeping God tour on the last day of our trip and we had an absolute blast. The trip ended up $240 US / person and it was so worth the money.

We were a bit hesitant due to the price, but if we went back again there would be no question. The tour began with a 1 hour pretty challenging hike which wasn’t all too fun, but it was well worth it. From the top you abseil (rappel), jump, slide and zip line from 10 different waterfalls. 5 abseils, 2 zip lines, 2 jumps and 1 slide. The biggest jump was 14 meters and some of the abseils were much larger and super thrilling.

We felt safe in the hands of Wayne and our other guide (sorry forgot her name) the entire time. They were calm and collected and you can tell that they are complete pros at this.

This adventure took us to parts of nature that were so remote and we wouldn’t have been able to see otherwise. If you’re thinking of booking, call now and don’t wait. It’s one of the coolest things you will ever do!

I did the half day trip with my partner and we absolutely loved it! My partner has a fear of heights and our guide (Anna) was incredible with talking him through the first abseil nice and he was loving it after not long. I loved that Anna took photos of the group along the way and that a copy the photos are included in the package. It was an amazing day out and we would highly recommend the trip to all.

This was one of my husband and my FAVORITE things we did in NZ. We went on to canyoning trips and this was our favorite. Russ and Anna were so much fun and they took some amazing photos for us which are included in price. It is $390nzd per adult for the full day which also includes some of the best burgers ever at the end and lunch. It is a bit of a hike to get to the start point but not terrible and some great views. You get to abseil (repel) several times, zipline, cliff jump and go down natural rock waterslides. It is SO MUCH FUN! There is one jump that is particularly nerve racking but I am happy to report that I not only did it but survived it. However it scared my husband enough he chose not to jump and abseiled instead. Definitely a must do for fellow adrenaline junkies!

We booked CanyonZ for a group abseiling adventure in Sleeping God Canyon as part of our tour of beautiful New Zealand. Our group ranged in age from 19 to 70, with Yours Truly being the oldest. I'd done a little rappelling on climbing walls, but nothing anything close to this level of intensity! Our guides were Paul and Shannon, who were both consummately professional and great fun - witty and encouraging - but totally focused on safety and on each person's enjoyment. I highly recommend CanyonZ and Sleeping God Canyon. While physically & mentally challenging in places, it was a fabulous experience in a geologically fascinating locale. Thanks, guys!

One of the best day trips in New Zealand. If I could rate it 10 stars I would. This was such a great experience my wife and I would do it again. The full day is worth every penny. To Wayne and Bree our guides you rock, such a good team you guys go out your way to make everyone feel so safe and ensure that everyone is happy as.

Cheers

Rusty, T & Triff led us through the Full-Day Sleeping God Canyon Tour and weeks later I'm still processing how incredible of an experience it was. As guides, they were so unflappable, positive, and upbeat, and even in the crazier than normal conditions in the canyon, it made the experience so approachable and truly a blast.

I couldn't have imagined doing half of the things we did during the tour beforehand, and I'm so thankful to have had the experience and pleasure of being led by the three of them.

Through abseiling down waterfalls, to jumping off rocks to hiking through the forrest, it's something I'll never forget.

If you're going to be in the North Island, this is a MUST-DO!

My goodness! Nothing but superlatives to describe this adventure (and yes, my wife would even agree even if she thought this was the craziest, scariest thing she's ever done in her entire life). We had 4 days to spend in New Zealand this past week for Spring Break, and CanyonZ couldn't have punctuated this short trip any better. Highly, highly, highly recommended if you have the guts and physical stamina to do it. We did only the Halfie (half-day) but it was so much more (better) than expected. Abseiling (rappelling) down 4 waterfalls was absolutely exhilarating--even for this old dog who has jumped out of perfectly good airplanes. The dip in the springs at the bottom of the waterfalls, albeit cold, was amazingly refreshing. We also had the absolute privilege of having Wayne, the company owner, as our guide. He knew every square inch of the bush and the waterfalls and was a total pro. His encouraging presence calmed some of the nerves in the group and as a result, everyone successfully negotiated all the waterfalls. We all came out of it with heads held high, proud of what we've accomplished. When in New Zealand, go see CanyonZ!

We had an amazing time with our guide Wayne! He was extremely friendly and kept us entertained the entire trip. Our trip included one other couple, and started off with a nice hike/climb in wetsuits. Towards the top we stopped for lunch and were able to jump off a 15-20 ft ledge into a pool. We did a total of 4 rappel, two including some ziplining. During the entire trip Wayne always prioritized safety and thoroughly explained everything we would be doing, and also took plenty of pictures. Would highly recommend this trip (and Wayne as a guide) if in the area and want to scale down some waterfalls!!
