Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We saw this adventure on an Instagram ad and knew we had to do this when we were on our trip around the North Island. When they say this is a “real NZ adventure” they’re not joking. Canyoning was the most fun adventure of our entire trip and both my husband and I kept talking about how much we enjoyed this experience. Annette was our guide and she made us feel so safe throughout our canyoning trip and just knowing how thorough she was in keeping us safe allowed us to have a stress free enjoyable time. She was awesome and we are so grateful she was our guide! If you are even remotely thinking about doing this adventure, do it! You will have the time of your life!! ☺️

Couldn’t recommend enough (and this is the first time in my life I take the time to write a trip advisor review). Wayne is easy to exchange with, explains clearly and makes you feel safe and confident (which is important when going out of your comfort zone to canyoning). I took the half a day canyon to the Uenuku Falls and it was a real highlight of my NZ trip. Coromandel is really beautiful, the equipment was great, I learnt stuff and had a lot of fun! Proper climbing, abseiling, jumping, everything was there, snacks were good and we even had pictures of the day sent to us afterwards. Go for it!

We booked the full day adventure but there weren’t enough participants. Canyonz was extremely communicative and still took us out on the half day adventure, which may have been even better. Annette was our guide and she was absolutely wonderful! She was very patient with us and shared tons of knowledge about the forest and all of New Zealand. Would highly recommend one of their excursions! On the half day trip we got to rock climb, abseil, zip line through the canyon. One of the top highlights of our holiday in New Zealand.

First time canyoning so we did de half-day tour. Already a perfect experience and a fun day. The crew made me comfortable that I'm curious to do a full day next time. Annette and Trif are true life enjoyers and gave us an incredible smile and adventure for the time! Thanks!

An Absolutely MUST DO for all visitors. I LOVED the Sleeping God Canyon tour ! AN AMAZING LIFE EXPERIENCE. Anna and Trif were our fun guides thru the spectacular canyon with history, knowledge & obsession with safety. After an hour hike, we changed into wetsuits socks, shoes, harness and helmet and taught safety techniques, then off we went ! WOWOW PHENOMENAL scenery, stories, then abseiling - my favourite was the funnel (litres of water pounding over your head), true water slide, zip lines and optional jumps (like 14m)
SO EXHILIARATING !! THIS is LIFE !
So book yourself in and forget about the grind in your life. You will love it, 10 hours of pure satisfaction
PS the hike will test your fitness but take it slowly, and once you've done one abseil, you'll forget about the hike and everything else.

We had the best day canyoning with CanyonNZ! We've done things like this before in the UK but this was on another scale. The size of the waterfalls, the zipline, the jumps - all incredible! It seems expensive but for a full day activity (including food) it is actually great value. We would go again in a heartbeat!

A M A Z I N G experience. Did the Sleeping God full day. Anna and Trif were very attentive from minute 0, took extraordinary good care of us, and were not only exceptionally skillfull, but also very cheerful and reassuring. I always felt they were people to blindly trust. The hike up is a little demanding but definitely worth the effort. Then comes the good part of it... won't spoil it! it just gets better and better all the way down. Not only will you feel the rushing flow of adrenaline as you abseil down, the scenery is unbeatable and unmissable. Actually unique, as there is no other way of enjoying those amazing views over the forest canopy. Reasonable fitness is required. A one in a lifetime experience. Thank you guys!!!
