If you are at all interested in gardens, particularly water gardens, then this is a must see attraction whilst touring the Coromandel area. Very well laid out, nicely kept & extensive gardens in a lovely setting that have obviously taken many years of careful planting & construction to develop. The lily ponds & their surrounding plantings are quite delightful with... More

We had a visitor from Taranaki who has always treated us particularly well when we went down to Waitara; so we really wanted somewhere memorable to show her what was "up North of Hamilton". Our visit on a hot day started well with a cool place to park under the trees. A relaxed atmosphere, adequate menu and a really obliging... More

We spent a lovely couple of hours walking through these delightful gardens. One part is man made and the other part natural - winding our way up to a delightful cascading waterfalls. The gardens were so peaceful with sculptures among the lakes and plants in the man made section. Loved feeding the ducks (bought the corn from the cafe). There... More

A lovely peaceful place with lots of Lily ponds, beautifully kept even if not overcultivated. Lots of ducks and peaceful woodland walk to the waterfalls. Entry cost a little high but we enjoyed several hours there. The cafe is excellent and the staff friendly and helpful

We try to stop at every garden when we are in New Zealand. This one has a special twist in it's use of water in fountains, ponds and waterfalls. The owner (?) greeted us as we arrived to buy our tickets and was a "fountain" :) of information on the gardens. We started our stroll and enjoyed every step. Be... More

We spent three nights here in November at the end of a grand tour of New Zealand. This was the perfect place to recharge the batteries and enjoy the tranquillity of the garden. The two sections of the garden provide different experiences: a pleasant walk to the waterfall for one and a carefully planted landscape with ponds and statuary for the... We stayed at Rapaura Watergardens overnight so the cost of admission to the gardens was included in our accommodation. This meant we were able to explore the gardens after the day visitors had left. We enjoyed walking around the gardens, feeding the ducks and walking to the falls. I liked the statues throughout the garden and the integration of art... More

This is a great place to visit it cost $15 but it was worth it. It is of the beaten track and you can miss the entrance but once you find the place it is well worth a visit. I went in sandals but I think good walking shoes are best. The first part is a very gentle stroll the... More

Took my two young children to the gardens. Lovely walk and good food in the cafe. Admission price for the gardens a bit steep but food reasonably priced.
