Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

First visit for me and it just has an amazing presence about where it sits in Broadway as you can see the Cathedral in all its glory.
It has been well maintained and that is great to see as a lot of the older places are getting demolished now, it would be super if the place had tours that you could go up the spier.
Inside is just breathtaking and l was in awe of everything l looked at so make time and visit this superb place you certainly will not have trouble finding it.

The Cathedral of the Holy Spirit is to the east of Central Palmerston North. It is quite an imposing structure and was created in neo-gothic style by architect Frederick de Jersey Clere. The cathedral was completed in 1925 and was originally called St Patrick's Church and then renamed in 1980 and then renovated in 1988. The Cathedral itself was not open to the public on the day that I visited but I had access to the Gathering Area. It is a very attractive cathedral and worth visiting whilst in Palmerston North.

Fascinated by the architecture in this building - the blending of historic with modern. And the parables told in the stained glass windows are excellent. Truly beauty showing the glory of God.

The Roman Catholic Cathedral of the Holy Spirit. is beautiful - tall and graceful in gleaming white, with lovely stained glass. In keeping with its name, on either side of the main altar are tall glass panels with embossed flames. I discover some illuminating red lights and obtained permission to turn them on with stunning effect. The auditorium is large, with seating tending to curve about the altar area. There are lovely stained glass windows, with each triplet of lancet lights depicting a parable. The styling is Gothic, yet modern, and I find some of the fixtures (altar, baptismal font) almost too modern and simplistic. Entry is via a modern ‘chapter house’ and there is an interesting garden in the grounds as well. We accidentally attend a service here, and find the worship as inspirational as the building itself!

This is such an obvious building, quite startling in appearance. We had a brief look around but surprisingly the inside didn't feel as spiritually uplifting as many other cathedrals have done. It's still beautiful, though

Worth a visit, lovely inside and out. We attended a funeral here and the priest and staff were lovely.
