About
Nestled inside Victoria Esplanade, Palmy's iconic rose garden is a beautiful (and popular) spot for a garden wedding, or simply book it for your photos. Don't let yourself be limited by what you can use this space for though. In past years it's also been the scene of the city's Summer Shakespeare theatre productions.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We hired a car and drove from Wellington (nice drive) to look at the place where my father in laws ashes were spread. Such lovely, serene and well kept public gardens - a credit to the gardeners.

We absolutely loved the stunning rose gardens here, and would have lingered longer if time allowed. Bravo to the dedicated gardeners who lovingly care for this absolute masterpiece!

We had a lovely hour or so here. A great selection of varieties and colours to consider for our own gardens.

Great display of roses - well cared for. Seemed to be a very popular area. Enjoyed a stroll around the gardens as was a lot of other people.

Nicely set out, would like to see more names of roses. Nice to see seats scattered around. Very well maintained.

The rose garden is opened in 1968 and located inside the Victoria Esplanade Gardens. The biggest rose
garden which I have ever seen. It has more than 5000 roses in three different sections.

Lovely colourful rose gardens - well maintained. I was disappointed however to see people with plastic bags helping themselves to cuttings / fresh flowers. There are books available to borrow near the bench seats so its a pleasant way to spend a couple of hours. You can then go to the nearby kiosk and have a delicious ice cream.

Walk through the rose garden during bloom time. See the colours on display. Breathe in the fragrant scents, especially the Double Delight variety There are more than 80 varieties to see. Take a stroll around the adjoining park to see the birds or cross the road to see the Manawatu River and walk along its bank. Also enjoy the cherry blossoms at the entrance during spring time.

Lovely gardens. Well maintained. Mainly roses which are gorgeous. seating is rather limited. More seats between the roses would be ideal. We were there with our elderly grandparents and it was too far between chairs for them.

Take a book and a picnic and have a wonderful afternoon in this magic place. The gardens are so well kept and there are plants of places to sit and admire
