The Victoria Esplanade is a family favorite in Palmerton North. Great for young and old alike. The playground keeps the young boys entertained. There is a nice walk, heaps of birds and a cute little railway ride on the weekends. The playground is awesome.

The gardens are very popular with families and many others. Sporting field border the gardens and there is access to the river. A wedding was taking place when I drove through. I had to give way to a flock ducks waddling across the road to a crowded pond. There were plenty out feeding the ducks. Reduced version trains were giving... More

There is no better place to take the kids in Palmerston North and by the number of kids here, it's clearly popular with the locals. Despite the numbers of children here, there is no shortage of equipment so this isn't a problem. There is also an excellent miniature railway - one of the best I've seen in NZ. Great (but... More

These gardens offer a variety of areas for those who wish to picnic, walk through the wooded area, smell the roses or go for a ride on the wonderful esplanade scenic railway. The playground is wonderful and kept the grandchildren occupied for hours. Unfortunately the cafe is not the greatest.

Every single time we come to Palmerston North we visit the esplanade without fail. The playground is always a huge hit with the kids and parents alike. The mini train is always a huge treat. I like walking around the paths the most with the kids. I remember doing it when they were still in pushchairs. Great morning or day... More

This is by far the biggest and nicest park in Palmerston North with an easy access to Manuwata river. A lot of walking tracks and aviary too. Don't miss it!

Coffee is okay. Long wait. Only one coffee machine with one barista. Cakes and scones were a bit small portion. I did not feel it was value for money. Good location and nice atmosphere.

We only had a quick trip to the Gardens but enjoyed the time we had and intended to go back but sadly the weather to wet to return as we had wanted to go on the miniature train that runs through the gardens. Great Duck Pond, Aviaries are in the progress of being rebuilt and relocated.

Headed here solely for a few geocaches. Pleasantly surprised by what we found including the birds, the flooded fast flowing river which offered the ducks a joy-riding experience and a lovely walk until it started raining.

This is an amazing place with kiddy's pool, rose garden, a nice café, model railway, aviary etc, very near to the city.
