Make sure you plan your visit here when the paddle boat goes through. It is worth watching the whole operation. Do that first then travel on the boat you get to here about it.

Travelling through the lock on the Melbourne paddle boat was most interesting. The commentary was very interesting. people on shore watching . Went back in the car to go over the lock to island and watch another boat go through.

Just love the concept of locks. It was fascinating watching the paddle steamer going into the lock, watching the gates close and water emptying out. The parkland either side of the lock was just mown giving a neat appearance and highlighting the beautiful river red...More

Best way to experience it is by boat and we did this the PS Rothbury. It makes a marked impression and difference to the river with the weir on the other side.

Hi Chris, I am not a hundred per cent sure the times but I will make some enquiries and get back to you ASAP. From memory I think it is around 2.00 p.m as we did the afternoon cruise.
