Went for the recent Archibald travelling exhibition. There is an excellent display also of landscapes of Geelong and nearby districts from Victorian times.

Recently during a visit to Geelong we visited the exhibit of portraits from the Archibald competition. It’s a lovely relaxed gallery in Johnstone Park.

This was my first visit to the Gallery and I would strongly recommend visitors to Geelong to put this on their 'must see' list. My visit was later in the day so I enjoyed viewing the entrants in The Archibald Prize in a peaceful space.

Went after the school holidays. Gallery was pleasantly empty so I could wander and view the paintings without other people around me. Mostly great paintings as ever. Parking was easy. Second year they have been in Geelong.

A small gallery with a nice permanent collection (although most of it was closed for renovations). There was an interesting exhibition on as well.

It is free apart from the occasional special exhibition held in a section of the gallery.
