The Eugene von Gerard exhibition was beautiful. I loved it, the selection was great - the drawings are so perfect. The paintings are always a delight. I was disappointed I could not join the tours of the Western District that complimented the show.

The building itself is beautiful and located in the heart of Ballarat on the main heritage street close to the station. There's often music, artist talks and major exhibitions, and always free to see most of the artworks.

Great little place. Beautiful building. Free entry (donation box in foyer). Permanent collection on display and a couple of temporary exhibitions. Local man playing classical music on piano in main gallery just made our visit!

Such a lovely gallery in a goldfields era building with room after room filled with glorious nineteenth century paintings. There is a room of Lindsay family paintings (more subdued examples than from when I was here last) and paintings from Tom Roberts, Arthur Streeton, David...More

A fantastic collection of work by this amazing artist. Interesting to see his original notebooks and how they became finished works.

The Art Gallery is suitable for all ages and has disabled access with ramp and lift. They have interesting exhibits and are a place that can be visited multiple times to see everything.

We attended the Archibald Prize exhibition for the last few years which has always been excellent but that’s not the only reason to visit. The collection here is well worth a few hours. We visit at least once a year.
