We love history ... while not always proud of our colonial predecessor practices, we are always intrigued by early European life in Australia. We’ve now visited “Old Gaols” in 5 Australian states and none have disappointed. Old Dubbo Gaol is no exception. While relatively small...More

Well worth putting aside an hour or two and really immense yourself into the history this experience has to offer. Try and go when the staff do their skits. It's entertaining for the whole family

We loved our couple of hours wondering around the Old Dubbo Gaol. It was informative and very interesting. The displays really gave an idea of what it would have been like to be incarcerated there years ago. If you are interested in history, this is...More

We did a self-guided tour which took us almost exactly one hour. Parts of the tour are quite disturbing and we were glad not to have lived in that time. All in all a fascinating visit.. would highly recommend to anyone.

This is a great view back in our history and a must on any visit to Dubbo. The museum is well maintained and the exhibits are explained in detail. The records show photos of all inmates and relate their crimes, some of which did not...More

Thank you for the review Lyn. The Gaol was definitely a horrible place to be if you were a law breaker but its history now teaches a valuable lesson. Glad to hear you enjoyed your time learning Old Dubbo Gaol's history. Kind Regards, The Old...More

Interesting to see an old gaol. Some of the 'wax' models are a bit dodgy. People are friendly and helpful. It is situated right in the centre of town and your entry is for the day, so you can come and go more than once.More
