Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Howard Steer is very nice and kind . His paintings are interesting and funny with deep meaning . My son spent all his hard saving pocket money from the last a few months / years on one of his original! He loved it .

Definitely recommend visiting Howard Steer's place and buy one of his pieces of art. Howard was friendly and very nice to chat with. Don't miss this lovely man's gallery which is very reasonably priced.

Howard donated two pieces of art to our event to raise money for the RFDS. We hope he was happy with the $2,000 we donated to the RFDS on his behalf.

Popped in to Howard's gallery/home in broken hill. Bought one of his gorgeous pieces whilst he painted his famous flying doctor on it whilst we watched. Talented artist and delightful to chat with. One of my highlights

Really interesting visit to Howard Steer’s studio. Very clever and somewhat quirky art on an outback theme. His Flying Doctor themed pieces are very popular and it’s easy to see why. Nice to see the artist at work as well.
Quick tip: You will see Howard’s work for sale in plenty of places in and around Broken Hill, but you won’t get any of it at a better price anywhere other than direct from the studio.

This is outback art with a large dose of humour. Sure you’ve got the red earth and the gumtrees but you’ve also got a flying doctor with a black medical bag and wings. There’s a huge range of different pieces and themes covered, sizes from large to small, original pieces to prints and cards, framed and unframed. There’s no entry fee to go in and take a look so it’s well worth your time.

What a literal sense of humour. Howard's use of words is as artistic as the wield of his paintbrush. His comic efforts centre on the nearby Royal Flying Doctor Service & have been a fantastic boon to that honorable institution. His collection of cartoon art would be the best coffee table book you'll ever find & I can imagine the giggles it would cause to lighten the atmosphere of any medical waiting room.

I had never heard of this artist before. His artwork is fabulous. He is a real larrikin, his sense of humour he applies to his artwork is hilarious. He gives an outline of his work through a book and donates an enormous amount of the proceeds of his work to the Flying Doctor Service. Original work, cards, coasters etc of his work available to purchase...

What are your opening hours on the weekend? Thanks

Howard does not permanently live in broken hill so I used to drive past to see if he was open on the weekends.
If he was in town he would close up by 4 Or 5 pm and open in the mornings usually by 9-10 am on Sat and Sun.
The site is also his workshop and he would often be in the back She’d working on a current project
-but would be happy to stop and show you what he was doing and have a chat.
So when your in the hill get some breakfast at the silly goat etc and
Then drive down to Howard’s place. He puts a sign out the front when he is around. If your lucky he will be in town!!
