Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The Trade Union once ran Broken Hill and is still very important. Their hall is an impressive building, and it is good that it has been preserved.

There are displays downstairs and a museum upstairs.

The union badges displayed on the ground floor were once critical to having a job. If you forgot your badge, you were unable to work. Your number was also critical in local activities.

It does not take long to look around - worth the effort

We wandered into a deserted Trades Hall and were fascinated to learn about and see the memorabilia that illustrated the various miners’ strikes and struggles. An important part of Australian history. The hall itself is quite beautiful in parts. It is presented as it must have been in reality decades ago. Wonderful experience.

You can just walk in through the open door - into a stunning entrance hall with beautiful stained glass windows. The meeting room is also beautifully restored. We saw this on a volunteer guided history walk of the city. Our guide imparted a lot of information about both the building and its function for miners, engaged in extremely hazardous work. A visit is a fitting acknowledgement of those who laid the foundation for the work conditions we enjoy today.

Stunning historical building with beautiful facade standing greatly on the street corner. One of the many downtown historic buildings you can easily include on your walk.

Either as a Trade Unionist or an admirer of beautiful buildings this is a must to see , the architecture is wonderful for a town such as Broken Hill that is over a 1000 kilometres from Sydney.

The outside of this place is a great example of Victorian architecture but the gem is on the inside The great hall inside is a beautiful fine and elegant hall unlike both its outside and anything I have seen elsewhere There all sorts of info & things to see that reflect the union history of the town.

If you are into old buildings this one is very pretty. Built 1898 the hall inside is very impressive and the staircase and windows are really nice. The outside is very beautiful. Some displays of relevant Unions in the area are included. The entry is a gold coin donation which is used for maintenance etc. Worth a looksee if you are driving by.

Visited on Thursday 14th November, what an impressive building and full of so much history on the union movement in Broken Hill. The Union Meeting was great as well.

A Beautiful old building which contains the history of the struggle by the miners in the early days to force the mine owners to offer living wages & safety for all. Well preserved and worth a quick stop while in town.

We visited the Trades Hall as part of the free walking tour. Very informative indeed and they have some great old photos of the town's past.
