Castello di Lagopesole is a fortified Norman medieval castle that changed hands since 1416. Has some interesting military architecture. Parts of the castle was built using recycled marble from buildings of the Roman Empire.

Driving up winding roads to get to the castle, breath-taking views from the top, beautifully preserved structure and amazing museum...a wonderful visit and experience.

Great, newly renovated exhibits on Federico II...in Italian though- helps if you speak Italian (at a fairly high degree of fluency- which both my boyfriend and myself do...). Even if you don't- beautiful surroundings...

Interesting multimedia museum. Very friendly staff. Really need to do the museum to understand the Castle. In August there is a nighly show in the castle.
