Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A few drops of rain meant we headed here to check things out. Happy we did, the old machinery sheds well presented by volunteers and well worth a look. $10 entry. A trip down memory lane. There is also an old school house which is very interesting. Friendly volunteers on hand to show you through. Worth seeing.

We stopped in for a quick visit before heading out of Te Anau. 5 sheds of tractors, cars, motorbikes, and other early machinery. My retired mechanic father had an absolute blast! The old school house was also fun and was filled with old bits and pieces that brought back many memories. Highly recommend a visit!

We had a very enjoyable visit at the Vintage Machinery Museum during our stay in Te Anau. Our three year old boy is mad for tractors, so he was in heaven, but the rest of the family also really enjoyed it. The effort that has gone into restoring the machines is really impressive, and there’s also loads of quirky, related memorabilia packed into the two small display halls. We spent a good hour there, and the entry cost is a small donation ($5, I think - cash only). Highly recommended!

An excellent collection of motorcycles, tractors and various other machinery from a bygone era. We were guided around by a super bloke who could give a history of each and every article on display .. Very passionate and a wonderful collection run by volunteers. A must for all age groups.

Little red windmill caught our eye on the way back from Milford Sound. Really inviting host, more than happy to show us around and point out some novel facts about the machinery but also Milford Sound/ Te Anau within the museum! Fantastic to see the time and effort gone into some of the collections here, a real gem and would definitely recommend!!

Great museum for everyone, whether you’re a machine lover or just being dragged along by someone who is! All sorts of farming, manufacturing and automotive machinery restored by enthusiasts who are happy to show you around too. Definitely a hidden gem and perfect if you have a few hours spare in Te Anau.

Many Many tractors and bull dozers coupled with a bit of machinery, a few bikes and a few cars. The guy who was on the day we went was full of history and knowledge which is what made the visit worth while for me.
