I really enjoyed this. The waterfall within the cave was cool, like Rickenbach in Switzerland kind of, and the glow worms are just cool. VERY dark. Best not to bring super young kids, one was screaming on the boat after ours, which detracted for everyone.

We enjoyed seeing the glowworms for the first time in our lives! They were lovely in the dark! Learning more about them from the presentation afterwards made us marvel a little more about how these beautiful creatures are actually apex predators in the food chain!...More

This was an enjoyable activity, including a nice scenic boat ride which took about 25 minutes to get to the caves. Arriving at the island where the caves are was fun, and feels like a novelty in itself as it is so secluded. The walk...More

As the site mentions, the cruise is a nice ride out to the destination. They provide warm tea/coffee and split everyone into groups.of 13/14, which is fine. The ramps and all inside the cave are well constructed to turn this into a easy walk. The...More

Definitely one of the highlights of my South Island trip! Saw heaps of glow worms dangling down like pearl necklaces and the boat ride in dark is really awesome. The cave itself is also a great geological feature. Followed by an informative and interesting presentation....More

The walk into the cave is very interesting and then you are put onto a small boat that is pulled by hand in the dark by the guide so that you can see the glow worms. Very interesting presentation about the glow worms given after...More

Excellent afternoon out. Well organised with fantastic access to the glow worms. Photography is not allowed in the caves so not really worth taking a camera.

We had a nice time with Real Journeys doing the Glowworm Caves tour. I feel it's important to have your expectations set properly -- Basically you have a 30 min boat ride from Te Anau (which itself has nice scenery -- if weather is good),...More

Nice boat ride on very high quality catamaran with professional crew. Cave is interesting with tons of running water. Less Glowworm than expected and it’s very very very dark. Guide was great and explained well the Glowworm life cycle

We were a bit disappointed with our 10 minute float in the cave to see the glowworms, but going through the cave on foot was good. Not sure it was worth the price.

I would look to go during the day, as the boat ride over has fantastic views and should you miss the boat you will not automatically get on the next boat.

Not recommend if I was claustrophobic as there are low ceilings and dark periods with no exits to escape.
