Visit the Te Anau Glowworm Caves - an underground network of limestone caves lit by hundreds of glowworms. In the darkness they produce a glittering display. Carved out by the force of the river, the underground world is surprisingly beautiful with whirlpools and roaring waterfalls. Begin with a scenic cruise across Lake Te Anau and then our nature guides will take you in groups through the caves and then in a small boat into the grotto. Departs Te Anau.

Overall, a very unique and worthwhile experience and one of the better things to do in Te Anau. Since glowworms like these are unique to this part of the world, it is definitely worthwhile for anyone visiting New Zealand to check them out. The Te...More

This is an interesting trip across the lake. The way through the caves is good and full of running water. Then the glowworm ride is like nothing else. Then you have the talk on them.

It was a wet windy dark April evening when we ventured across the lake at Te Anau to the GloWorm experience. 60 - 70 hardy soles, with a fair representation of our Chinese visitors, would not be deterred by the weather conditions and I think...More

Kind of set up like most "get 'em, get 'em out" attractions, and there are better places to see glowworms; but the staff are very friendly and knowledgeable and seeing a raging river in a cave is pretty awesome. Go during sunset for some fantastic...More

Hi Tristan, thanks for the review. We're pleased to see how much you enjoyed the tour. We generally would take no more than 70 persons on the boat however as you saw, these are all broken down in smaller, more personal groups to then explore...More
