We visited Kepler track in June, which is winter in NZ, therefore due to limited time we wanted to do a day hike to see what this trail is like. We checked with local tourist info about the conditions and they said that there may...More
We did the walk in April and were faced with strong cross winds across the ridges, however as like other walks it added to the adventure. We were advised safety options and guidance at the Huts by very informative wardens before.
The walking is challenging...More
Left from the Te Anau control gates at 11am on a winter day, walked up to the limestone cliffs and back in time for a nice dinner in town. Once we hit the snow line the going was tougher, and we did not have the...More

I could not do the multi day option due to physical problem. I did a walk from Rainbow reach to Te Anau. It took 4 hours to the control gate. The walk through the rainforest was very refreshing and beautiful. Prepare enough water and snack!...More
It was a lovely and relaxing walk. We didn't go too far, only 45 minutes to and back, but it was a good distance for our four-year-old to see a beautiful forest covered with soft green moss. We walked down to the lake and spent...More
Beautiful ridge hike! We boated in from Te Anau to broad bay and hiked to iris burn and went back the same way (2 days 1 night). Because of the schizophrenic weather we opted to do the ridge twice just in case the weather was...More
We walked a section of the track from Te Anau to Brod Bay. It was a lovely walk, well laid out on boardwalks at times and with good signage. You are in trees and ferns for all this part of the track but there are...More

No sure there is a guided tour. Not needed anyway. A reasonable level of fitness is still required for this hike. But the tracks are superb. Head to the Luxmore hut for your first night, be prepared for 3-4 hour climb. The view however, will knock your socks off once clear of the trees. Then get an early start on day two, you still have about 2 hours of climbing to do, but you will catch the early morning views as the sun gets up above the horizon and starts bouncing off the Southern Alps to the West. Take a good Sandfly repellent for huts two and three.
