This experience was one that you keep with you for a lifetime. I can't fully explain how special it is - if you can, 100% go so you know what I mean. The magic of being in remote Fiordland, in a place that few get to see, a beautiful balance of feeling alive and wild while also serenity and peace. A few highlights out of the countless we experienced include an unreal helicopter journey to the Breaksea girl and spotting dolphins on the way, snorkelling and watching dinner be caught, the food - oh my goodness the food - what these guys managed to whip up on a boat never ceased to amaze me. The views were breathtaking and we loved the tame weather and the wild weather - both beautiful! And what made this experience feel so authentic was that you don't at all feel like a tourist but rather a group of friends on an adventure. There was no fixed itinerary and we got to choose what we wanted to do each day even if that just meant taking in the surroundings or lazing out on the deck with a good book! Fi, Brian and Scotty are the best and I loved how much love they have for this part of NZ. 5 days was the perfect length to fully immerse yourself - although I definitely wanted to stay on the boat at the end and just keep going! Hands down couldn't imagine a better way to experience Fiordland than this.

Just back from a five day adventure on the Breaksea Girl. It would have to rate as one of the best travel experiences we have ever had, anywhere. Dusky Sound, our playground for the trip, is a remarkable spot with amazing diving, swimming, kayaking walking, and history. With Wild Fiordland, you get to experience all of these, with knowledgeable guides and top of the line equipment. We knew it was going to be special when our helicopter pilot swooped in and circled a pod of dolphins for us as we came into Wet Jacket Sound to begin our tour. This really is a set your own itinerary trip, with Scotty as guide and Brian as captain making everything easy. They are both hugely passionate about the area and are great onboard companions at dinner! (Scotty caught the dinner too....) And when you are not jumping off the side of boat, kayaking with seals, exploring 18th century expedition sites, spotting native birds or following in Kāti Māmoe Ngāi Tahu footsteps, (or listening to Scotty s cheese jokes) you can relax onboard. Grab a book on Fiordland from the boat's library, stretch out in the sheltered glasshouse on the stern or drag a few bean bags on to the deck. But don't rest too long - you'll need to work up an appetite for the wonderful meals Brian whipped up. Think crayfish risotto, fresh blue cod, venison...oh and we did knock off a whole chocolate cake for afternoon tea. The accommodation onboard is comfortable, with linen and towels provided. There are two shower /bathrooms with plenty of hot water. Our weather was fantastic, with calm sunny days mixed in with some deep south grey. We'd recommend bringing wetsuits for swimming (togs were fine for a quick dip) a few warm/ water proof layers and some walking shoes. And a sense of adventure. We'll be back:)

Two couples and two guys boarded the Breaksea Girl for four nights. We were superbly cared for by the ever-patient and knowledgeable crew: Brian, Scotty and Kim. Kim spoiled us with excellent meals and shared her knowledge of wildlife and the area. Scotty parried words with the toughest of us while keeping us all safely in check when out on the water or wandering through the bush, and also shared his knowledge of the regional history and wildlife. Cap'n Brian took everything in his stride, constantly assessed weather conditions, conveyed us to wonderful places and spun a few excellent yarns along the way. We kayaked, fished, walked, laughed and drank a bit of wine and whiskey (sorry Brian!). What more can I say? This crew is an excellent combo with their complementary skills and deep knowledge. Love you guys!

We had the most incredible trip on the Breaksea Girl, with a passionate attentive crew who added so much to the experience. We loved every minute, and it was the perfect way to explore untouched areas of Fiordland.

We joined Wild Fiordland for a 3-day adventure aboard the Breaksea Girl after hiking the George Sound Route - an amazing reward after three tough days of tramping! We enjoyed two glorious days aboard the boat, exploring George Sound and feeling like we were in a world of our own - and we were the only people around for miles - before sailing up the incredible Fiordland coastline into Milford Sound. From start to finish, we loved our time with Wild Fiordland and couldn’t speak highly enough of our adventure. We were hosted by Brian, Scotty and Kim, who all went above and beyond and showed us the time of our lives. Brian, the skipper, shared his wealth of knowledge with us and Scotty displayed endless patience ferrying us around in the tender for activities, even in driving rain - and caught us some amazing fresh seafood into the bargain. Kim whipped us up some incredible meals and we were blown away by her skills in the kitchen (and by her platters!) The crew were so welcoming, hospitable and friendly - it felt as though we were travelling with friends. Whatever the weather (and we did get the full spectrum of Fiordland weather!), the crew helped us make the most of our time aboard and facilitated all sorts of activities, whether it be exploring the fiord and spotting wildlife, paddle boarding, fishing, swimming, sailing, or just relaxing on the boat and enjoying some truly incredible views. We were so impressed with the Breaksea Girl which became our home for 3 days - we just wish we could have stayed longer. We honestly couldn’t recommend Wild Fiordland enough and we can’t wait to join the crew for another epic adventure!
