Someone recommended this company to us because of their excellent reputation in the region, and we weren’t disappointed.
Mark dropped us into our Wapiti hunting block and promptly picked us up again a few days later (unexpectedly) after our campsite got flooded out. The scenery we flew over is absolutely phenomenal and needs to be seen to be believed.
Sarah was super helpful throughout the booking process, and she even couriered us + our gear to/from the hangar because we didn’t have access to a vehicle - supreme southern hospitality!
100% would book with them again on future trips to Fiordland, and will recommend to everyone coming down here.

Thank you very much for your kind review. We are very grateful for the recommendation that brought you to us, and of course your recommendation too. We're sorry your trip didn't go to plan due to the weather this time but we would love to see you back this way again!

Heli and Hike was an awesome way to experience part of the Kelper track in a day with 3 teenage boys. We drove from Queenstown and boarded the Heli with Mark as our pilot. Even though the day was a bit windy Mark was able to drop us at Luxmore Hut with the skill of a seasoned and knowledgable pilot. From there it took us about 3 .5 hours of leisurely downhill walking back to Te Anau. We met several persons coming up the hill whom wished they had experienced the track the way we were.
Amazing track and amazing service with the team at Fiordland Helicopters. Would recommend to anyone.

We did the Kepler Heli hike which in itself is great. However we felt like they couldn't get rid of us quickly enough. Passengers flying with another company on the day were landed on another mountain before being dropped at Luxmore hut. They paid less too.

We are so disappointed to hear your experience with Fiordland Helicopters wasn’t what you had expected.
There are other companies in town that offer very similar packages and packages can be adjusted to suit customers preferences. We do apologise if this was the experience you would have preferred and had we of known at the time of booking we could have absolutely tailored the package to a trip that would have included multiple landings and a slightly longer duration. However, this can adjust the price.
Without knowing the circumstances of the other company, it is hard to comment on the price. There can be many differing factors for this.
I can see that your booking enquiry came directly from the Kepler Heli Hike page of our website. We have tried to be a clear as possible as to what this package includes and have not mentioned that the trip includes any landings other than Luxmore Hut but if you found any information on our website misleading, we would love to know so that we can rectify this to avoid any confusion in the future.
Lastly, thank you for taking the trouble to give us feedback following your experience, we really appreciate it. You may like to know that we make many company decisions based purely on feedback, so it really is listened to. All comments are also reviewed on a regular basis and every one of them is seen as helpful to our business.

Well I will start by saying that this experience was hands down the highlight of our entire NZ trip. Prior to the flight there were a coupe of nervous members in our party who had not flown in a helicopter before but who had their apprehensions taken away by our pilot Jonathan's professionalism and down to earth demeanour.
What you're able to see from the air is awe inspiring. Flying through the fjords, down valleys and alongside water falls, it's impossible to compare it to anything else we did on our trip. The cherry on the cake was landing over Doubtful Sound for a mountain top picnic and getting Jonathans local insight into this magical part of the world.
One thing to note - make sure not to let local (Te Anau) weather conditions dictate your flight plans. We had grey skies on the morning of our flight and were convinced we wouldn't be able to fly. A quick call to Jill in the office and we were assured of better conditions on the other side of the mountains. THANK GOODNESS we listened as our picnic and flight conditions were just peachy.

Fiordland Helicopters provides the absolute best service for anyone looking to photograph Fiordland from the air. Fiordland Helicopters allows you to request the number of doors off which helps keep the cost reasonable and the flight personalized. This company is by far the most knowledgeable and accommodating of any I have researched or flown with previously. Our pilot, Jonathon was willing to meet us at 6 am in order capture the best light of the day. I had an idea of where I wanted to fly but let him take us to additional locations based on his expertise. This was a great decision and I am certain that he showed us the best of Fiordland. Jonathon is a fantastic pilot who maneuvered the helicopter with skill whenever necessary to help me line up a shot. I cannot say enough about how important this is for photographers!
The helicopter flight exceeded my expectations with additional summit landings and extended time. Not only did Fiordland Helicopters uphold their quoted price, they provided bonus landings, flight time, and two DVD copies of "Ata Whenua Shadowland" for free. Jonathon was also happy to point out our specific flight locations on the map and educate us about the landscape. I recommend Fiordland Helicopters to anyone who desires to see Fiordland in all of its untouched glory. In only two hours we flew over incredible untouched wilderness - glacial lakes, deep forests, rugged canyons, steep mountain passes, snow-capped peaks, and Doubtful Sound out to the Tasman Sea. We experienced the solitude of Fiordland National Park's wilderness by stepping outside of our helicopter. This company's long history of flight experience is evident in a conversation with Jonathon and their commitment to conservation work is impressive. If you want to see the best of New Zealand and one of the world's greatest landscapes, look no further than Fiordland Helicopters.

My husband and I booked a flight over Dusky and Doubtful Sounds at the end of a very extended vacation in Australia and New Zealand. We have traveled extensively, and we are generally jaded about "must-do" activities, but this flight was perhaps the most spectacular trip we have ever taken. Our guide was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, and the scenery was just indescribably beautiful. Swooping around the awe-inspiring sounds, landing in a deserted cove, and landing on top of a mountain: this once in a lifetime experience was worth every single penny!

If you are looking for an experience that you absolutely cannot find anywhere else and will remember forever, this is that experience. My family and I booked the Doubtful Sound Heli / Kayak Exclusive day trip. I don't think any experience will come close to how incredible this day was. We started at Fiordland's Helicopter pad with Kim as our pilot. Kim is an incredible pilot and also one of the coolest people I've ever met. And thank god he was our pilot, because my mom got extremely nervous when we first got in the helicopter. Kim was able to calm her down and assure her that she was in good hands. I've been in a few helicopter rides before, but nothing compares to the beauty seen over Doubtful Sound. Kim flew us next to the mountains, pointed out locations from movies, and shared his incredible experiences. When we flew between mountains to a hidden waterfall, the scenery was so stunning I was convinced that I was in a movie. From there, we met up with Cloudy and Mark for kayaking. Cloudy and Mark were hilarious and such fun that even if we didn't kayak, it would have been a great trip. We did kayak, and Doubtful Sound was unbelievable. We only saw one other group for the whole four hours on the water, which is a huge difference from the overcrowded Milford Sound. And our lunch was beautifully served on the boat in between kayaking sessions, and to this day it is the best lunch I've ever had. All in all this is the greatest experience you can possibly take in New Zealand to a scenery that is yet to be discovered by mainstream tourists. We cannot thank Kim and the team enough for taking such good care of us. They went the extra mile to make this trip the best it possibly could be. You leave here with an unforgettable trip and amazing new friends!
