This has got to be one of the most enjoyable and great value for money 1/2 day experiences in this part of the world. The ketch had real character and the owners/crew, George and Adam were able to share their passion for Te Anau and Faith their ketch with kindness, flexibility and attention to detail. The delicious morning tea was enjoyed in a picture perfect fiord. Walking to the hidden lake was like journeying into prehistoric New Zealand. We attended this cruise in winter and were rewarded with rainbows, sunrise colour and moody clouds.

Hey!! Your review has to be a perfect overview of all the things George and I love about living down here too!! We're very lucky to be able to share our region through the experience we offer onboard Faith, and while we're definitely biased about loving the experience onboard Faith, its really nice to know that you've appreciated the small touches too. The winter can be one of the most beautiful times to visit here, contrary to the perception of weather challenges. It's generally a very calm time of the year, you get much more of the Jurassic Park cloud hanging around the mountains, and snow on the tops makes for the most beautiful views!! You do have to dress warmly, but we consider this the price of admission to a beautiful scenic nature show :-) Thanks again for your kind words, very much appreciated!! Wishing you both all the very best, Adam, and the team from Faith in Fiordland :-)

We departed Te Anau wharf on the 6pm evening scenic cruise. From the moment we step on board the Faith we are made feel absolutely welcome and part of the Family.
George and Adam showed my wife and I around the fully restored 1930 sailing ship with its ornate timber finishing's. The period sailing costumes warn by the 2 operators really set the tone for this adventure.
The motoring across the lake was calm and smooth. We were offered some light refreshments and canapes which were delicious.
We tried to get the shell we say the, old girl to sail when the sails were raised for our return but there was not enough wing and a 1930 sailing ship does not have foils. On the return Adam stood up the front of the ship and played the Bagpipes. Where else in the would could this happen
We can not speak highly enough of George and Adan and the Faith. This adventure made our 4 days in Te Anau completely memorable.

Thank you both very much.

From the moment we hopped on, to the moment we got off we had an incredible time on Faith, the crew were amazing with the kids! George took us on a gentle walk to the hidden lake and sharing his knowledge of the plants in the area made it even more fascinating. The hidden lake was beautiful, we definitely could have chilled out there longer but needed to get back for morning tea which was delicious!!
Adam showed the kids how to raise the sail, the crew truly are so good with kids.

If you can only do one thing in Te Anau do this! Couldn't recommend highly enough.

My daughter and I had the opportunity to sail on the Faith at the end of April. We thoroughly enjoyed every minute of this trip. We learnt about the history of Faith, took a walk to the Hidden Lake (learnt about the flora along the way) and were spoilt with a fabulous morning tea which catered to our dietary needs. I highly recommend this activity - one of the best experiences we have had.

We did the afternoon trip to the hidden lakes on a rainy day with our teenagers and another family. George and Adam were fantastic hosts - from hot drinks on arrival, to getting the kids on the helm, tours of the engine room, lots of info about the boat and the region, pointing out rare plants on the walk, to the amazing afternoon tea with hot and/or cold drinks. Sadly there was no wind, so we couldn’t sail home, but it was a great way to spend 3 hours - make sure you bring a good coat/walking gear if it’s a rainy Fiordland day!!

Hey!! What a lovely, comprehensive review!! How very thoughtful of you :-) We love having kids onboard, and really enjoy seeing their confidence doing tasks while onboard with us. We really encourage people to be a part of what we’re doing, and take pride in giving people a taster of sailing/ boating, knowing that it might just spark an interest for them to find their own passion on the water too. Thanks for writing in such detail, it’s very considerate of you to give other reading this such a good overview of what we celebrate. Very much appreciated!! Wishing you and your family all the very best, Adam, George, and the team from Faith in Fiordland :-)

My trip today on the sailing vessel Faith in Te Anau was fantastic. The crew of Anne Marie and George is fantastic. Anne Marie is a great skipper who knows the lake and it’s three freshwater fjords very well. Our arrival at a jetty on the south fjord signalled the beginning of an easy but interesting walk through the rain forest to Hidden Lake. George’s knowledge of the area and its flora is impressive. The Hidden Lake is a beautiful spot. Our return to the Faith saw us served up refreshments and individually served canapés which were very very nice. I would recommend this fantastic, friendly and impressive lake cruise to any visitor to Te Anau. This trip is worth every cent of the price.

The trip onboard historic vessel MV Faith exceeded my expectations. The vessel itself is beautiful and has travelled the world before arriving at Te Anau. The captain and crew made the trip enjoyable and enjoy showing visitors this scenically stunning part of New Zealand. Other passengers from UK and Germany also very enthusiastic about trip, so can say it's world class. Arriving at jetty, there's a 15-20 minute bush walk to the hidden lakes. Lucky with weather and we were able to see the mirror images. On the return journey we were served with morning tea, which was better than average and beverages served on request. Hosts very knowledgeable of local fauna and flora. One of the most enjoyable trips I've experienced in a long time.

Adam and Megan took us on cruise across the lake and docked at a jetty on a remote and uninhabited shore for a short nature walk through the forest to a hidden lake. On our return we were treated to canapes and drinks on board. This was a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon. The boat itself dates from the 1930's and has a captivating history that Adam tells with great engagement - the boat is clearly now his hobby and he has carried out much major work on the boat himself. Adam and Megan are lovely and knowledgeable hosts who made us feel very special.

We went on the evening cruise. We were fortunate in the fact we had exceptional weather, but the hospitality onboard was no less exceptional. George and Adam are extremely passionate about Faith. Ironic name really, we were staying in the Te Anau Lodge, a converted convent!
The canapés and drinks were delicious and free flowing.

Hey!! Great to see you here, thank you very much for leaving us a review, we really appreciate it. It’s lovely that you had the chance to enjoy the Lodge, and Faith both, knowing that they have quite an entwined history. We do like exceptional weather, it’s a bit of a treat!! I’m writing to you now from the stern table while Maree and George run the boat, and we have one of those days today. Yay!! Thanks again for your kind words, very thoughtful of you :-) Wishing you all the best, Adam, George and Maree :-)
