This is a small sanctuary working to conserve native New Zealand birds. Interesting displays in beautiful surroundings. Worth a visit.

I hadn't heard of this attraction in advance of our visit, but we chanced upon it during our stay in Te Anau and had to stop. It was well worth the time and we learnt a lot. Run by volunteers so please do donate.

A unique opportunity to see rare native birds such as the takahe close up & for free, although there are donation boxes to aid conservation work.

My wife and I really enjoyed this small bird sanctuary. It was walking distance from our hotel and right on the path that leads around the lake.
