Better briefing for those first time on an e-bike, speed caused fear on Turbo setting from outset with inadequate instruction on how to adjust. Terrible experience by my wife not properly set up with seat height causing multiple injuries when falling off when stopping. First aid required on site and for lengthy period afterwards. Partial refund request when returned early 20 minutes under an hour on a 1~2 hour hire, was refused.

Response from Real_Journeys, Guest Relations Manager at Stewart Island Experience - Rental Vehicles
Responded 1 week ago
Thanks for taking the time to post this feedback. We're sorry to hear about the issues you encountered when you rented an e-bike with us on Stewart Island recently. In response to hearing about your wife’s experience, we have made some changes to how the staff determine the customers understanding of operating the vehicles safely and aim to have this incident remain as a one-off. As such, I am happy to offer a full refund on your wife’s rental as a way of making amends and we have emailed you directly for details. Hopefully, she won’t be put off renting another bike in future as they are a fantastic way to explore! Kind regards, the team at Stewart Island Experience.

Henry @ Stewart Island Red Shed went well beyond the call of duty. His customer service was beyond our expectations. Hats off to Henry. We hired 2 E-Bikes & went buzzing round Stewart Island. He gave us lots of tips as to where to go to maximise our sight seeing.Then.... I lost my Versace Progressive lens glasses... blind as an old bat without them. Henry went chasing down different options. Some tourists saw the glasses where we left them, but they then disappeared. He phoned the Police & spent ages trying for help. Just as we were leaving Stewart Island, a Policeman came scooting down to find me as someone handed the glasses. Henry did but need to go the extra mile, but exceptional customer service his nature. Thanxx for such an amazing Stewart Island experience. We absolutely loved it all.

The E bikes were great .. only it sucks about the cost. Because if you pay for 2 hours ($50) which seems reasonable .. but it leaves you no time to stop and swim and look at the views etc because you dont wanna waste your time actually not using the e bike .. $20 p/h would be so much better

Staff very friendly. Bikes were so uncomfy. Returned early and wouldn’t credit difference but could have only booked for 2 hours so I thought that was unfair. We still had 1.5 hours left each. But lots of fun.

Really helpfull and friendly staff. One of our bikes broke down. I went back to the main village and explained the problem. They picked up the broken one and replaced it for a new one and they even gave us some extra time
