Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Stu Dever showed us a wonderful time. We caught some big trout in our three hour trip! My wife and I only wish we had reserved a full day. Stu made sure each of us on the trip caught fish. Stu's knowledge of the area was both interesting and helpful to us.

Thank you for your great review....the fishing here has been stopped while we deal with this virus, so the fish will be extra hungry by the time we get back to them.....hope you are all staying safe....regards and thank you.....Stu

My 3 sons and I have just been out with Stu for the 2nd time (1st was 5 years ago). He’s a great guy and extremely knowledgeable after 30 years of fishing Lake Wakatipu. If there are fish biting he will find them and today did not disappoint. Highly recommend for any visit to Queenstown and will be back again for sure.

We had a great 2 hour session of fishing with Stu. My partner has done a lot of fishing but before my experience with Stu I’d never fished before. Stu helped me catch my first ever fish! Stu was great company and very committed to maximizing the chances of everyone catching something. The scenery from the boat was beautiful! Would really recommend doing whilst you’re in Queenstown! We had our fish for lunch at Pub on Wharf and it was really yummy - so fresh and well cooked.

I am so pleased that you caught your first fish with me, and I hope that it encourages you to go fishing whenever you can.....I get many reviews saying that the Pub on Wharf restraunt does a good job with cooking the fish, so that helps...its very nice to eat freshly caught salmon and trout from our very clean and clear waters....regards Stu

We took the 3h tour. We caught 5 trouts on the first hour then nothing. While it’s not the fault of anyone we didn’t catch anything for 2h, the tour itself was really basic, no refreshments, no narrative, only a boat ride for 3h at a very costly price (esp when you factor in the fishing licenses).
If it was less pricy I wouldn’t have expected more but at this price point I wouldn’t recommend it.

Yes Tuatinig, we caught 5 trout, and then the weather changed and the fish went deep and refused to eat.....not a lot anyone can do about that......I used to serve coffee and tea, with biscuits for morning/afternoon tea, but since this pandemic has been going around, I have been advised not to serve morning/afternoon tea to anyone, so I dont. By following the rules I have upset some of the tourists, but I think that if I just carried on I could find myself in trouble. The fishing licences are a requirement for the fishermen, but I have no say in them......I get nothing from that. Thank you for coming out with me. Regards Stu Dever

Stu is a great bloke who knows his fish and has a wealth of information about Queenstown and it's history. Caught some lovely trout and thoroughly enjoyed eating them. We'll definitely book another trip next time we're in Queenstown.

I booked a 3hr charter for my sons and I. As it turned out, we met some family on the same charter (we were all here for them same wedding).
Diane made it very easy to book and sort out the fishing licences.
Stu is very knowledgeable and shared his experiences. He certainly made the trip for my sons.
We bagged out (caught our limit of trout) and had to return the last 3 trout caught.
Great experience, certainly do it again.

There are heaps of fish out there, and a good time was had by all.....regards and I will see you guys next time you are over here......Stu

Had the best time fishing with Stu today. We caught 3 brown trout and one salmon (see pics!). Absolutely beautiful location, lovely & comfortable boat, and great conversation. We loved chatting and laughing with Stu while catching the biggest trout we have ever seen! Well worth our money and time. We took some trout & salmon home to have for dinner. 11/10!

Such a beautiful afternoon on the lake . Stu is great and we enjoyed every minute. The autum colours were spectacular from the water and we even caught 2 brown trout and a rainbow trout. We would’ve thoroughly enjoyed it even if we caught nothing. Magical !

Stu is a very informative and keen fisherman! I caught a couple of trout and took them home and they tasted delicious! The best trout I have tasted! Stu taught me a few tricks of catching fish that might help me in my own fishing. Fishing is a patience game - some days you might not catch any but Stu definitely knows the spots on the lake where you can hook one! Thanks for a great trip and will definitely be back!

Hi Stu,
We are coming to Queenstown next week. We are a family of three. Is there any fish right now? And how long do you recommend we should book. Our kid is 14 years old.

Hi Stu, my partner and I are visiting at the end of November and are really keen to fish. How much would it be for two adults on either 27 November or 4 December 2018? Thanks in advance, Miz.

Thank you for your inquiry for fishing in August....that is a good time for fishing, as the salmon are starting to run then,,,the easiest way for your group is to take a "private charter", where you guys are the only ones on the boat, together with the Captain....the cost of that is NZ$400 per hour, minimum 2 hours, and that price includes all equipment and fishing licences...book on my website ..regards Stu

May I know what is the maximum age for child fare and how much does a one-day fishing licence cost for child?

Hi, we don't have a minimum age for children, but they must be supervised at all times, and all must wear a life jacket vest, which will be supplied by us. Fishing licences for children under 12 years old are free of charge.
