I would consider myself amatuer landscape/outdoor photographer. My hope in with booking with Martin was two-fold. First to be taken to places with beautiful views and second to learn from a pro. Both my hopes were met to more than my satisfaction. I spent two full days with Martin. One day around Wanaka and One day around Queenstown. I have good equipment and a good eye for what looks good but Martin helped me with various aspects of getting a "shot". He helped me most with composition I think. He was quite familiar with the area and we drove around to various spots where we would then both take photos side by side. I would show him my pic and he would make suggestions and show how he was composing etc.
Well worth my time and money. I have lots of great photos from my New Zealand trip. I think they were helped by my experience with Martin.

I arrived in Queenstown in the morning, and did not want to waste half a day so I booked the half day tour. Turned out to be a great decision! Martin is a phenomenal photographer, and knew the area really well. Learned some cool photography pointers as well! We went to Skippers Canyon which is just an amazing place to see and take photos. The only thing I didn't like about my tour was it was too short!!! If I end up coming back to Queenstown, I will definitely book a full day tour and see the other spots.

Arranged a day out with Martin to see the calmer side of Queenstown away from the tourist areas. Had a brilliant and informative time learning about my cameras tricks and seeing some stunning scenery. Also had the added bonus of a photogenic canine model joining us in the snow. Highly recommended

Just got back from an amazing day of photography with Martin. The weather was amazing, the locations even better, I couldn't have asked for more really. Martin is a top bloke, very knowledgeable ( not just on photography, I learned an incredible amount about the area..winerys, the gold rush, he knew it all!!!) and knows the area extremely well. It has been the highlight of my holiday in New Zealand...if you want to get away from the usual tourist photo spots and see some amazing places off the beaten track, a photo tour with Martin is a must,I can't recommend him highly enough!!!

Awesome day out with Martin and definitely one of the highlights of my trip to Queenstown. Martin picked me up at my hotel at 3PM in the afternoon and headed to a few secret photo spots that only known to locals. After taking some sunset photos, we went to a lake up on the mountain to take photos of the milky way. I took some of the prettiest photos from this trip. Martin is a very patient teacher and encourages you to make all sorts of experiments with lighting, exposure, focus, etc. Strongly recommend to anyone who wants to take some awesome photos or simply wants to enjoy the view.

I spent a great day travelling off the beaten track with guide, Martin Kohn, on a photography tour in the Queenstown area. As no-one else had booked for the day I had chosen, I went for the one-one-one tour option. This was a bit dearer and I baulked a little at the cost, but in the end thought it was the best value activity I undertook whilst in New Zealand. Martin collected me from my hotel at 9am and we headed out of Queenstown, stopping for photos at a number of spots as we drove along the eastern shore of Lake Wakatipu. These were not places the average tourist would visit and at least one involved climbing a fence and scrambling down a bank to a photogenic stream. And this sums up the day: the opportunity to learn more about photography while getting your feet dirty (and later in the day, almost blown off the same feet by the wind)! After a quick bite to eat in a village, we then headed up into the Hector Mountains and down into the Nevis Valley for more great photographic opportunities. On the return journey down the mountain, the light in the valley below was so good, we kept stopping for more photos. Martin was extremely flexible with the itinerary and a patient, knowledgeable teacher. While my day was pretty physical, this was exactly how I liked it. Just talk to Martin about what YOU want to achieve and I'm sure you'll have as good a day as I did. By the way, I really want to go back in winter!!

The West Coast and Skippers Canyon tours were fantastic - and fun. Martin and Shawn got us to incredible locations for memorable photographs at just the right time of day. I am an experienced photographer, but Martin inspired me to try new things as he pointed out different compositions and points of view. My friend is a novice with a new camera and she received patient assistance. While the tours were well planned to take in the major landmarks, we also stopped for spontaneous photo opportunities. Highly recommended.

I recently did the Skippers Canyon photography tour with Martin and it was sensational. Not only is Martin an experienced photographer, he also knows a lot of history about Queenstown and Skippers Canyon.

Martin picked me up from my accommodation just outside of Queenstown in a new, very clean and comfortable car. We then made our way up Coronet Peak, stopping at a few locations as we went up in height. We then went down the Skippers Canyon track. The scenery is spectacular, but the drive is precarious—at all times I felt very safe with Martin driving. We stopped at lots of locations for all different types of photos. Near the bottom of the canyon we stopped for coffee and a muffin (both yum) before we continued along and the Shotover River came into view.

All up, we were away for about 5 hours and loved every minute.

I would highly recommend this tour for anyone wanting to get spectacular photos while
In Queenstown. Martin is a personable and exemplary host 10/10!

Thanks Hilton. I’m glad we were able to make this a comfortable and enjoyable experience so you could really capture the grandeur of Skipper’s Canyon.
