We went on one of the first trips of the day through the canyon. Our skilled driver had us close to the canyon walls, hich madefor an exhilarating ride. Of course there were donuts along the way, the kind where you spin round on the spot, not the edible type 😂😂. And we got a video of our ride emailed to us. Thank you to Malcolm and the team at Shotover Jet. This is a must for anyone visiting Queenstown.

I wish I could have said that it was the most exciting thing ever but it wasn't. Perhaps it was too cold or I couldn't keep my eyes open in the wind or the spray but I was happy when the ride was over. Everyone else in the boat seemed to have a good time so I am just a party pooper. I suggest that you wear sunglasses with keepers on them so you can actually see on the ride.

Hannah is a very skilled boat operator. When we watched our video back, we were laughing and smiling the whole time, so I'd say we had a wonderful experience. I highly recommend this to those who want a little adrenaline rush. Even if it's a warm day, you'll likely want to bring a rain jacket and perhaps a beanie as it's much colder on the water and you'll get wet. Note: there aren't safety belts in the jetboat, you do have to hold on tight. We had a tough time acquiring our video after the boat ride but this seemed like a fluke and we did eventually get access weeks later after corresponding back and forth with Shotover Jet employees.

Lots of thrills with the Shotover Jet. Highly manoeuvrable, flat bottomed boats that bumped along the river at speed doing lots of turns , sailing quite close to the rocks, was fast and furious. The pilot was great fun and clearly enjoyed her job. I mean, who wouldn't....sailing at around 90 kmh when flat out and getting people wet. Great afternoon out.

Wow!! If I could rate this 6* I would. What an amazing experience. If you do only one Queenstown adrenaline experience do this! The views along the gorge were amazing as we shot along at 90km per hour in parts. The 360 degree spins were great fun. Hannah our driver and guide was fun, knowledgeable about the boat and the area and a crazy but safe driver. The whole team was friendly and so well organised. We turned up a bit early for our booked trip and were quickly put on an earlier one. If you have a GoPro take it as it is the only way you can take photos/video due to safety. Otherwise, buy the photo/video package. It is worth it. Finally, don’t expect to stay dry. I think the Shotover team pride themselves on creating maximum splash for maximum fun.

I also have lower back disc problems. If you brace yourself firmly and push yourself into the seat, you should be OK. They make some 360 degree turns, but the skipper will give you a warning. I came through it OK, it's a lot of fun

However, the person must be able to fit one of our lifejackets (we have a huge selection from childrens to XXXL). Hi whats the best time of the day to take the boat ride? We are planning to do Gondola (skyline lunch) and Luge on same day, wondering would it be too late to start the shotover jet in late afternoon/early evening?

Yes! You can easily do the skyline luge in the morning and keep the shotover jet for the afternoon! But pls keep in mind not to have heavy lunch in the afternoon! As it may cause nausea😊
